Outraged! Please be aware...
Yesterday I took my son for a hair cut to the kids' hair dresser in one of the big malls. (I will be more than glad to give more details for interested parents, just PM me)
To make it short, while the lady was cutting his hair, I saw her making : ouch... but I didn't take it seriously, but another “ouch” rose my attention, so I got close to her, only to see her hand bleeding on the scissors she was cutting my baby's hair with. So I told her "please stop", but she didn't... then again: "please stop" with a louder voice, so she stopped looking at me surprised, I told her: "please clean these scissors well before using them, it's full of blood!", so she acted as if she doesn't understand and said: "only because new scissors", so I had to repeat again.. and finally she went to "clean" the scissors... and what she did? She washed it with water… no alcohol, no soap, no sterilization... nothing.. and came back to finish up my baby's hair with the same pair of scissors. I was literally outraged! Did she ever hear of hygiene? of AIDS? of Virus C? of thousands of infections???????? she was cutting the hair of an 18 months old baby with her own blood! how could she?
To top it all, I looked at her hands, the poor lady had her hands all chopped up, apparently this new pair of scissors was not practical to use... but what about the dozens of other kids and babies that had a bloody hair cut?
I thought of writing this to all of you QL parents, to warn you.
After all, I am middle eastern, and not used to having my hair cut tools sterilized after each client, and yet, I've never experienced that much level of poor hygiene.
Yes there is no understanding of "infection control" and liitle training to employees in this control. Sure they wont use a needle twice but disposable gloves...........
The HMC may get away with "sometimes" looking clean but in reality........ when the superbugs hit then there will be big issues
i'm sure the other private hospitals are similar.
I am ready to do anything to avoid my baby another bloody hair cut!
I feel terrible today... I should have walked away with my baby right away!
Thanks for letting us know, we'll avoid it from now own.
Red Pope, even though I've cut my daughters hair before, it really isn't that easy to do. Small kids tend to wriggle alot and scissors you buy over the counter here cost a fortune and really aren't very good at cutting, hence you get a terribly uneven cut which just looks messy. Trust me I tried! :)
You know what I discovered? My daughter and I had a hair cut abroad at a Jean Louis David salon. Their cuts are done exclusively with hair clippers not scissors. Two minutes and she was done, and looked lovely. :)
Bibo, we should try clippers next time we cut our kids hair. It's actually alot easier. :)

Moonbeam:
There was no manager on board.
It's in Landmark, next to the play area.
Red pope:
2- I don't know how to cut my baby's hair, but I definately will from now on
3- lack of assertiveness?
4 - yes, I did wash him straight away, and made sure that, thanks God, he has no open wounds on his head.
1- Hygiene and sterilization of the tools being use in a hair stylist room is a most, specially when dealing with blood.
2- No disrespect towards you, but Why don't you cut the hair of your baby your self?, he is just a baby and not an adult. Who cares about hair style on a baby? specially a 18 month old baby.
3- Why didn't you walk away from the place with your most precious gift (baby)? I would walk a way and got some baby wipes or wash him off at the ladies toilet with soap and water.
4- Did you wash your baby head after arriving home?
Is not hard to use common sense on this one.

How terrible! Please do share the name of the place; so that parents are aware. Did you complain to the manager?
