You will need your own 4WD,tent, food and drink (yes you allow to bring your own booze), portable BBQ, and everything else you want.

Pls fetch a little bit of wood as well so we can make a bonfire in the night time.

Yes we plan to go, but we have no set time. We will go after the cleaner finish. All our friends will meet us up in there.

Here the direction :

Head up Salwa road – past the industrial area and keep going.

Look for a sign indicating the road to Mesaieed heading East. You will need to continue past this sign in order to do a ‘U’ turn and join the road on the way back on the other side.

Head down towards Mesaieed for about 15km, at this point, not far in front of you is a road to the right sign posted Al Kharra.

Take this road for 5/10 minutes – Singing dunes are in front of you at the ‘T’ junction, by this time you will no doubt have vehicles in front and behind you ………… follow the crowd.

we cancel the trip because of the sandstorm, in total there were 11 cars, and we ended up in one of the pilot's house to cook our BBQ meat.

The next day we went to Dukhan ... 4 cars ... had a picnic in the same spot we went with you. None of us got stuck in the sand :P

We meet every Tuesday evening at 8pm. The Dive Club is in a converted villa up a dusty road opposite the Oasis hotel (its hard to find so I would have to give you better directions).

I was really rusty too, but they do a conversion training course to get you back up to speed.

Its very friendly place with members of all nationalities although it is ostensibly a British Club. The chairman is French and there are Qatari members, Indians, Yanks (like me), Canadians, Brits, South Africans everybody really.

what day they normally meet? will have to arrange someone to take my son ... :-)

we used to dived in Bali and Thailand... so i know i can't expect alot from Qatar.

and also i am very rusty i think ... will need a refreshment lesson badly :p

I will get back to you ... and apart of the day you normally meet, where do u go for meeting?

thanks.

Of course you can. I am also just PADI Open Water. I have joined the Doha diving club because it is very sociable and friendly (and safe) and they organize dives every weekend. But you don't have to dive with them, you can go on your own.

The only other place I have ever been diving is the Cayman Islands which is amazing and Qatar is nowhere near as good. But there are quite a lot of things to see here such as turtles, rays and there are a lot of wrecks (sunken ships) that make good diving.

If you are interested, I would be very happy to introduce you to people at the club.

would is like the diving site in Qatar? I am an open water diver with PADI (hubby a level higher) but haven't been to any dive since we arrived in Qatar. Wondering wether me and hubby pick up this activity again.
