Hi Everyone,,

My schengen visa has been approved.I am planning to go to Paris for 10 days..I need to make my bookings online as I dont want to go through any travel agencies.
I request Q'lers who are have been there to suggest me about the places or particular locations to stay so that we can see things and visit places around.
Travelling info in the web is too much and confusing.I have searched in the forums but there is no particular information abt the costs there like food, accomodation etc.
Also,I will be staying for more than a week,is it advisable to stay in hotel apartments there, are they convenient nd cheaper in comparision to hotels???

Any ideas/suggestions will much appreciated..

Thanks..

- Go through travel websites and make a list of places you would like to visit.

- Plot them on a map if possible.

- Make hotel bookings on Otel.com or bookings.com.

- If your trip involves intercity travel, look for train bookings online.

- Enjoy your trip

if ur not accompanied, however better avoid metros at night, if ur going to/from the suburbs.

and pay attention to pickpockets they abond: even at the tour eiffel, there is signs reading: "attention aux pickpockets" = beware of pickpockets. better not to have ur passeport, and all ur money on u. safe keep them with the hotel administration.

even in summers it is common to rain in paris.

do not use taxis: 5 times more costy than Doha. tour montparnasse - arc de triomphe around 35 euros= 175 QR

while, it's around 3 euros per metros/R.E.R

u can go by metro to Versailles (which is outside Paris

as well as to Charles de Gaules or Roissy airport by metro too.

The places which you should see in Paris are located in different parts of Paris. Try to get a reasonable accommodation near to Champs Elysees. Most of the hotels in Paris will be organizing 'Tour de Paris' at a special rate so look for something which will cover the night life as well. Please note that taxis are quite expensive in Paris.

Chairboy, Why do you want to send the OP to Pigalle the red street of Paris?

N.B. If you are using metro please keep all your money and valuables safe as there are lots of pickpockets in the metro.

Do make sure that you check out the Pigalle region of the city - its a lovely area full of local colour and culture.

if ur practical and not looking for the fancy life,

ANY 2 to 3 stars hotel will do. ANY location is good too, since by design, no place in Paris must be further than 300m from a metro station.

first thing u ask the receptionist is how to use the metro.

for 10 days u can eat at macdo for 5 euros, or try french exquisite cuisines for hundreds of euro/meal.
