the guys that I saw were at the signal light close to the air port, the one with the FFC Airport branch

I've been told that Qatar Traffic police has sub contracted identifying and issuing fines for traffic violations to a private agency

I don't know how much this is true, but I have seen people in blue overalls definitely not traffic officers manning signal lights. At first glance they look like regular road workers... but then I noticed they had traffic written in bold letters on the back of their uniforms and they were writing down stuff in notebooks every now and then... very odd... they weren't doing road work for sure, maybe someone else could shed more light on this...

don't worry so much

getting your first parking ticket is like your first prick of conscience when you do something bad

it bothers you so much only the first time ;-)

police is everywhere nowadays.

Even at un-imaginable places and making money for the State (by way of slapping fines) :(

similar incident happened to me 3 days back.. parked as usual in front of Olympic Sports near the Crazy signals.. exact parking spot was just on the road side in front of the shop behind the remaining cars.. went inside to get a pair of shoes. came outside and saw a burly !@#!@# sticking a yellow sticker on my car.. I apologised and he barked back asking "is this parking place"..

not going to olympic sports ever again till they can identify parking places for its customers..

anyway, i have 3 points and 500 qr fine.

on the other hand, is anybody aware of police having to finish a certain quota of traffic violation stickers in a week / month?

shouldnt it be a parking offense in the first place? Is any notification required for that?

By GodFather.• 23 Aug 2010 12:31
GodFather.

Ok so paking along the Pedestrain Guard Rail (PGR) is now been treated as a Traffic offence. I think the Cafe and shops/properties in that area should warn their customers about this and post warning. Otherwise no will go there and they will lose business

I think the area along the Pedestrian Guard Rail is in Question here which probably is classified as prt of the service Road. I dont think anyone got a ticket parking their vehicles right infront of the Properties.

Nadine, please advise which was the case, we're you parked along the Pedestrian guard rail facing the Ramada Junction or we're you parked infront of the Grandcafe or any other property.

Thanks for highlight this anyway. Hope you can join us for a Shisha tonight. PM me for details

Oryx, Was your friend,

a) in the proper car park

b) in the parking bays beside the road

or

c) on the road?

you a little bit. Maybe, try to reason out this ticket with the officers at Kahlifa, maybe you get a discount or erased it totally?

I never knew you couldn't park there! Hence the simplicity of painting a double yellow line!

Just cos everyone else is doing it, doesn't make it right. Remember all those who parked on the road outside City Centre?
