petrol stations

time and again, i have to fall in queue whenever  i need to tank up. what do you think of the the petrol stations here in qatar? do you think the petrol stations are enough for the ever growing number of cars in the country?

we are in an oil-producing country. are you satisfied with the services relating to petrol retailing?

in my opinion, woqod is the only petrol station that provides satisfiable service. one stop and i can get the convenience that i need. they have stores where you can grab a bite, toilets are clean, with atm machines and friendly service crews.

Que?

I do tip the attendants after a good friend advised me to.

I filled up the other day and while it was being done I asked one of the other guys to clean my back window for me, which he did.

I tipped more than usual to the guy who took the money for the fuel but should I have tipped the guy who cleaned my window also?

I always get tipping wrong, all very confusing to me.

Have we all gone French??

 Queue - to line up

 Cue - for playing billards/snooker/pool

 Que - french for 'What'

Lesson over

Oh and the petrol stations are good here, but need more of them.

Always tip the petrol attendent!!!!!

If you feel giuilty about having your tank being filled by someone else, leave couple of riyal to the attendant. It will make them smile and it is only cost you less about 30p which is cant even buy a bottle water from machine dispenser in the UK.

I have no problem with the petrol stations here.

I feel a bit guilty having my tank filled for me, just doesn't seem right to me.

Dweller is spot on about having your own compressor, they are only small and cheap enough, but it will be worth it's weight in gold if you have a puncture in the middle of nowhere and your spare tyre is flat.

If you have to que, so what?

If you don't like to que, go when it is quiet.

I try not to complain about things I can't fix.

Never trust the pressure gauges at filling stations, many are way out. I carry my own gauge that I know is accurate.

It may be worth investing in a small compressor. One that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I wouldn't be without mine.

well they are ok but could be better.the petrol pump in al waab near Al Sadd stadium has an air compressor. i normally get my tyres checked there. are there any other pumps with air filling facilities?

at the moment i think only Woqod have a decent full services of UK style petrol station. They are in the process of opening another one near by The Mall roundabout just opposite Le Mirage compound.

I agree too.  It is nice not havng to get out of the car to fill up.  The lines at certain times of day (weekday mornings) are long but if you time it to fill up at off times you can usually get in and out fairly quickly.  The one thing that would be nice though would be a quick cleaning of front and back windshields.  Full service stations where I come from do that automatically while that tank is being filled.

i agree wityh jasmine on this ... i dont even have to get out from the car for filling. And pay the fuel cheaper than a bottle of water.

In England you have to get out and do it your self AND pay 9QR a liter. It would be nice if they had a shop though.

The very one thing that I am very surprise here in Qatar with thepertrol station is that they do not provide one of the basic necessesity a car owner needs besides petrol.............

No air compressor......you cannot fill up your tyres and WHERE CAN I WAS MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is still a lot of development required to be at par from where you are.
