Please clarify

Hi everyone,

Need clarification regarding visits from relatives (from Malaysia). Is this true:

1)they must fly into Doha with Qatar Airways only?
2)they need to show proof of hotel booking for entire duration of stay (which means they won't be able to stay with us?)
3)they must carry on their person QR5000 cash or valid international credit card.

I saw this on a website regarding obtaining tourist visas for visits to Qatar.

Thank you in advance..

Thanks.

GG is right Visa on arrival depends on the passport you are holding

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here

Than a whole truck load when I'm gone

Dear Gypsy,

There is no visa called Qatar Airways Visa now and No need to fly with Qatar airways, they can use any airline.

Thank you,

It’s the same, only certain nationalities get visa on arrival. But I think those who are holding a GCC resident permit can get a visa on arrival….only if he is a professional/Executive.

There is Qatar airways Visa which is applicable only for immediate family members like Parents, siblings and spouse. They need to fly with Qatar airways, no restrictions on where they stay…. maximum stay is 56 days.

Other one is Tourist visa, which you can get it from the hotels in that case they need to stay in the hotel for the whole period. Normally issued for 14 days can be extended. I think they need to show International credit card/QR.5000 (Not sure)

Once you are settled, you can bring your parents/brother/sister on a family visit visa, there is a age restriction for that, they should be less than 60 yrs to get the visa through proper channel. The duration of this visa is one month which can be extended up to six months.

You can sponsor your close relatives. No hotel booking requires neither flaying with Qatar Airways. Go to Passport office at the Airport, fill out a form, submit with your and relative's passport copy. That’s it. Cost QR 55. 14days validity with 14 more days extendable.

Hotel can sponsor you relative also. Contact a hotel and find out how much the room and sponsoring.

None of the process requires international credit card. It is needed for a foreign visitor from 33 countries(like USA, UK)who is eligible to obtain a visa from the Doha Airport when they arrive.

Do a search in QL. You will get plenty of posting regarding tourist and visit visa
