Im writing this on behalf of a countryman who called me today to inform me about their working conditions. They are digging ditches near The City Center and the equipment he's operating does not have an airconditioning. He told me that the ditches now are almost 15 feet deep. Can you imagine yourself inside that ditch and in this weather. To give one a better picture, he is inside a 'backhoe' operating it without an airconditioning. The heat inside the ditch would be unbearable! Management has promised to install an aircon but nothing has been done. His question is, where can they go for help? Would the Labor Dept. be the right office to seek help or is it the Human Rights Commission? I think their concern is pretty much valid. Letting these people work under the present weather and condition is inhuman! I think even some animals will have better treatment. Your feedback will be much appreciated.

Quite right, vignale. But sadly, very unlikely to happen.

This is crazy, This work is regarded as Confined space as per OSHA and should be treated with special care- with or without the immense heat we got.

Do they have a Safety Officer working there ?

If so he needs to make sure that the Oxygen atmoshpere is ok, and these day's they should have a 15 minute break every hour. There also might be other conditions that we don't know about and the SO needs to check everything.

i went to villaggio at 1pm today, while waiting for taxi, i can feel that my dior is melting, after sometime i got into a cab, and unfortunately the cab's a.c.u. is not working, so i was like inside a capsule of hell, real hellish.

.

i've felt one-fourth of what these people are suffering.

.

I don't know how to help, but definitely they need help asap.

I suggest to go to Human Rights Commission for advice and then to the Labour Department.
