Pools
I am searching for a place that I can swim in a nice pool. I am willing of paying and I am not a member at any club. Requirement: the pool to be cleen whithout people swiming with their clothes in it (for excample abayas)

qatar welcomes all different forms of attire in the various pools in the country...there is a pool to suit everyone. we are a very accomodating people to guests in our country even though our own culture has a more modest approach to women's clothing!!!
I like to pick baby ruth bars off of the bottom of the pool and eat them.
some women don't like burkinis because they feel they are too form fitting ie the trousers part of it
yeah burkinis are great but some women have a special 'swimming abaya' which is a little different in terms of material and style from the ones they wear out and about.

with swimming because of my past. I'm so phobia with deep water. As long as i can touch the ground then i will feel safe..but when is dark and deep i'll be panic.
How can i cure that?
suzanna, as long as there is a lifeguard on duty then it is OK for people to be in the water with their abayas on. it is not a danger to others. some women feel they don't want to wear a western style swimsuit as it reveals more of their body than they are comfortable with. hope you can appreciate that there are all different ways to dress on diifferent occasions. wouldn't it be so boring if everybody in the world dressed the same way???!!!

They did eventually recruit a lady lifeguard if a little late.
Am I missing something here? They closed off the pool for a ladies day. But none of the ladies could swim?

Yes every Tuesday was ladies day. Men (even staff) were not allowed and all windows overlooking the pool were blocked.
The Gazelle Club (QP's ELS Club) had a similar day that resulted in tragedy. A child fell into the pool and drowned because none of the women could swim and there were no men on duty.
Hotel pools are, as someone else mentioned, very well maintained.
Hotel pools are well maintained with strict rules.
Compounds are a different matter; depends what kind of people/riff-raff live on the compound.

Is stuff like that quite common then? Or was that just a one off? What about hotel and club pools and shared pools on compounds and stuff? What are they like, generally speaking?
Ladies day in the ex Falcon Club pool was an event after which nobody wanted to go in the pool.
Steak sandwiches, paper plates and plastic cutlery.....all in the pool.
People swim in pools in abayas! How on earth do they manage that?
I remember during school swimming lessons we had to do lifesaving, swim in our pyjamas and dive to pick up bricks to earn a swimming certificate, and I recall it's quite difficult to swim while wearing clothes.
Yes, dweller, all the hotels' pools/beaches are overloaded. You need a membership everywhere.
It used to be possible to pay to get in. Has that changed?
Try to get your school to contact one of the hotels and agree a seasonal rate for you and your colleagues if there are enough of you sun worshippers.

You need to be a member's guest and pay at the door at one of the hotels. You used to be able to go to Palm Tree Island but alas...

You need membership. By the way, they do a great kids' birthday party at the Ramada kiddie pool.
So we don't have to be members in the Ramada hotel to use their pool ?
