I just noticed USA wasn't on that list, was it?. Sorry about that. It was sent to me by a Canadian and all he said at the start of the e-mail (21 June) was:
"Today, In Saskatchean, about 1.20/litre which is about 5.00/g"
Didn't mean a lot to me, so I didn't copy it to the thread. US5 a gallon? Yes, probably that's it.
Here in Dallas, TX gas is over $3 per gal. Here they drive lots of trucks and SUVs. To reduce theft at the gasoline pumps, the honor system has been replaced with pre-paid service.
I guess although I received that by e-mail only a couple of days ago it's somewhat out of date!
Hi all,
In actual fact with the current Sterling/Dollar exchange rate the cost per Gallon is around the $8.70 mark.
Regards Freon.
I thought the motor industry, scientists or whoever, were trying to come up with alternatives? The electric car never really caught on, though, did it :D
Gotta fly to Venezuela...$0.12!
I wonder if I could smuggle some out.....
It said by 2012 the cost of Oil/Gas as a fuel will become uneconomical for Non-Oil Producing Countries. (ie the demand will overwhelm the supply & most countries will not be able to buy OIL/GAS)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil
Countries most affected will be US, India & China.
Most probably they will have to fall back on Nuclear Fuel.
But for Transportation they will still need OIl & Gas.
the price we pay for gas, and many other products, does not reflect the true cost, when you consider the environmental damage caused.
people in qatar and many parts of the world are relatively ignorant to environmental issues, but when people in the west, the US in particular, keep buying these massive SUVs which on average use 4 times more fuel than an efficient car, then i'm happy to see them being nailed at the pump (unless they have a truck full of kids or work in the bush/construction)

So we are fortunate souls
but the point is that almost everywhere else in the world gas/petrol goes up every year!
No problem. In 2004 1 ltr cost QR 0.85. In 2007 still QR 0.85/Ltr. So why bother
