Pro or Against Abortion?

But think about it Brit. If a woman is willing to pay $400 get her uterus scraped out as opposed to using much cheaper and less painful methods of contraception, shouldn't she be allowed to do it? If abortion is her primary method of birth control, she should NOT be allowed to have a child.

And what about people who's birth control fails? Condoms are only 70% effective, the birth control pill and the IUD are only 99% effective when used properly (and for the IUD 2 out of 10 will fall out without the woman knowing).

As I explained earlier, I believe that there is a third option. IMHO, many women use abortion as a means of birth control. I may be wrong, but that is my stance.... for now ..

It's free choice or no choice Brit. How do you choose who can and can not have an abortion?

And if you turn a woman away, chance are she will go for illegal/dangerous methods and you end up killing the woman and the child.

As I said in my initial post, I fully support abortion in cases of rape, abuse or incest or where the life of the mother is in danger. I do not support free choice of abortion on demand.

I agree that there should be legal abortion clinics. However, I do not agree with free choice.

My thoughts exactly TB. All criminalizing abortion has done in the case of female infanticide is condemn the baby to a short life of pain and cruelty.

Here's a question though. If it's a choice between legalized abortion, know that some will choose to abort it the baby is a girl, or illegal abortion knowing that those same people would kill the child after they are born, what would you choose?

Personally I would rather have legalized abortion than backroom coat hangers.

@ Miss Mimi: yes you're right... it's pro-choice... The problem is that some countries do not give you that choice due to moral implications or religious ... There has been an ongoing debate regarding the abortion process... some say it's ok since the fetus has no gender or any defining human characteristics until 3 weeks in the pregnancy, some say that it's murder, some don't give a s*#t, some want to do it, some don't... some don't even consider it to be an option because of the procedure itself or because they were taught that a powerful being living in the skies will get angry with them and screw up their lives if they follow the procedure...

Opinions are split, but some choose to do it even if they were taught that it's bad...

It's pro-CHOICE not pro-ABORTION. Pro-Abortion makes it sound like you want people to go out and abort every baby.

I am pro-choice, meaning, that while I would never choose to have an abortion myself (unless for severe medical reasons) I would NEVER EVER make that decision for another woman.

Also, the minute you start saying: This woman can have an abortion, and this woman can't, is the moment you get into a lot of problems and abuse of the system.

Frankly, if you are using abortion as a method of birth control, than you should never ever be allowed to have a child as you are the most irresponsible person on the face of the planet. And for those who say they aren't for using abortion as a method of birth control, what do you call the morning after pill? A chemical abortion is still an abortion.

As for abortion for rape. I can't imagine being forced to carry the child of the person you hate more than anything else on the face of the planet. To those who can convince themselves that the child is harmless, good for you, but you'll be stuck watching that child like a hawk while it grows waiting for it to do one thing that makes you think that they will grow up to be a rapist, that isn't fair on the child, not to mention, can you imagine being the child? Knowing that your father was a rapist?

Don't even get me started on incest related births.

What if you're a couple who find out they are having a child with severe disabilities, and you know that neither you nor your marriage could handle it? I don't think I could bring a child who will be in pain into the world.

As for adoption. The adoption system is only good if you are a healthy parent giving up a healthy child. If you're a crack head giving up a crack baby, that child will likely never be adopted. And due to disclosure laws, yes, the likely adoptive parents must know EVERYTHING. Including if you are the child of rape. And most adoptive parents (with the exception of gay couples who will take any child going and say thanks, but who are unfortunately blocked from adopting in a lot of countries) will not take unhealthy, or possibly psychologically scarred children.

I have revisited this issue several times and still have not come to a complete conclusion. I am completely against ending the life of a human being because someone wanted to enjoy some hours worth of pleasure. I feel as though you think you are responsible enough to go and have sex than you should also be responsible enough to deal with the consequences of it.

The other side of it is there are some people that are absolutely not cut out to be parents. And those kids should not have to suffer with those that are irresponsible. Why should their future be ruined? Then adoption is a good choice. In addition to that, when it comes to adoption or foster care you have to be concerned with who are these people who will foster the child? There have been cases where the foster parents abuse and neglect the child.

In the case of rape I have thought about this countless and numerous times. Rape is a critical situation emotionally and psychologically. We can easily say then give the child up for adoption (and also be concerned about that which I said above). But in reality the child is going to end up wanting to know where he/she came from. Who are my parents? And when they do who would want to know that they were conceived out of rape?

These are just some thoughts that I feel should be taken into consideration.

I don't believe children should suffer for the mistakes and sicknesses of others. They are innocent and don't deserve to live such a miserable life. This is like a punishment for them and what have they done but be born into the world?

Can we really give a consistent answer for every situation? I don't think so. Each one is different and that needs to be taken into consideration.

Anti abortion in matters of "ooopps" and as a method of birth control.

Why is everyone in love with adoption? So it's immoral to kill it but it's better to just give it away like a piece of useless garbage? How many people still adopt today? How many kids are there without parents?...

Pro-abortion only when rape is involved and the woman feels she can not deal with it psychologically.

Yeah that's scary when you read girls are using abortion as birth control,that's just wrong and should be stopped..I think the repeat offenders should be made to have contraceptive implant or injections and obviously educated about other issues of unprotected sex like sexually transmitted diseases..I have a son and have drummed it into him about unwanted pregnancies ect..Men also have a choice here..

excuse me but that is their own choice... Sex-Ed is a big issue in a lot of countries...

Google a bit and check what girls usually do when they get raped and impregnated...

You obviously never met a rape victim... hear what they have to say and notice the fact that less then 10% choose to keep the child... the rest are horrified by the idea of keeping the baby of their worst nightmares...

If I were a girl and got impregnated due to rape? obcourse I will surely kept the baby, the trauma is there we cant kept away from it but killing the baby will not help to get rid of the trauma itself.

Killing the baby itself will not keep you away from that traumatic event of your past life. Why is it so easy for some to choose abortion while there are some other option that would prevent risking life?

Think of it and don't jump into conclusion that the family who adopted her will view her that way? and how cold are you to end her life then? I came from a very poor family and my parents adopted a baby girl whom we love so much and where so thankful and blessed that she came into our life. We face many problems but not even once we point our finger and blame the problems to her. We didn't even feel that she's a burden to us but instead she serves us an awaken for me and my brothers to work hard and to be responsible enough.

Selfishness indeed for life itself is a gift. Lucky for you that you were born. Your reasons are unjustifiable and selfish.

Try to ask your mother if it happens she's in such situation like rape or whatever, will she choose to deliver you or to abort you? and be blessed and thankful if she say yes to deliver you^_^v

the adults are the ones responsible... however... you need to take into account that that baby will grow...

Let me ask you something... if you (let's say you were a girl) were raped and impregnated... would you keep the splitting image of the man who raped you inside or try as hard as u can to move on with your life and go past the trauma?

And again... let's consider for a minute that you and your wife have a baby, but are unable to take care of him/her due to financial issues... Would you consent that that child should suffer your mistake and grow without his/her parents in a different family where - chances are - she will be viewed as an intruder by the rest of the household? How cold can you be???

Selfishness? Are u kidding me? What is selfish about a couple that decide that it's best to end the pregnancy before their child is born? Why send it to adoption like a piece of technology that you no longer need? Why keep it and live in misery and poverty (if that's the case)?

Aren't there already enough kids who need parents, because of a stupid decision that was taken without their consent and they have no fault in this?

Think of that before you make rash decisions based on speculation and superstition...

parents will not be able to take care of the baby - why not offer the baby for adoption?

Raped? - does the child deserve to suffer the consequences(abortion) what his father done to his mother?

Overpopulation: there are lots of option/methods of how to control the growing population however ending the life during/after pregnancy is unjustified option. If the method you used missed be responsible for it and not just simply ending the life inside the womb after you enjoy and fulfil your selfish desires.

Depletion of natural resources and global warming? babies are innocent from such problem why not blame the adults?

not allowed by religion is not the reason rather it is poverty, expect an unemployed parents who both stays 24hours in their home will probably have more frequency doing sex compared to those who are employed.

Exactly... so why not make it a viable option for everyone to abort the pregnancy IF the parents cannot or will not be able to take care of the baby? There are so many cases where parents abandon the child at birth because they can't take care of it. There are so many cases where a girl is raped and impregnated and does not want to keep the baby.

Overpopulation is a great problem at the moment... along with the depletion of natural resources and global warming.

How many cases are there where families make more than 10 kids all because they do not want to use contraceptives or in some cases they are not allowed by religion.

I think it is a personal matter.

I personally stand for life if it comes to my baby, but a mother/father must consider what type of life they can offer their child.

One should be responsible.

Pro Abortion... this might prevent unwanted problems, underage pregnancies, overpopulation and many more moral issues.
