Procedures to sell a car

Dear folks

I guess some of you in here would have had to sell their vehicle at some time during their stay in Qatar and would have a list of do's and dont's from this experience.

I would be glad if you could list what needs to be done during the whole process of selling your car.

Guess finding a buyer would be the first step and reaching an agreed price would be the next step.

What happens next??

If you are the buyer why should you hand over the cash 1st. ask seller to go and fly kites. This is buyer's market. seller can keep his car and donate to charity on his own terms.

so, if i understood correctly, before we go to the traffic department, the insurance of the car should be changed to the buyer's name.

Also, when does this ready cash get handed over from buyer to seller? Is it .

1. at the time of insurance being changed to the buyer's name.

2. at the traffic department during transfer of istimara .

3. After transfer of ownership and all formalities are completed.

When does the car actually belong to the buyer - when he hands over the cash or after transfer of ownership and insurance is completed ..

Is there something that we should be careful about from unscrupulous ppl, if any?

Is it required to change the name in Insurance paper( type of insurance remain same say 3rd party or full insurance ) before go to Traffic dept?

If we not change the name in insurance paper, is there any possibility of complegation in future?

Recently I sold my Car, and the procedure is.

1. Go to the traffic department(Matar Qadeem is better as there wont

be much rush.It the old airport road).

Get the Form filled from a typist.Seller and Byer ID card is

required for this. You have to tell them the phone numbers and

Address of both the parties.(This process will be ove in 10 mins)

2. After filling the form, go to the officer whos doing the process.

Provide them with the ID cards of both the parties along with the

filled application form.

If the buyer wishes to change the insurance type( that is from 3rd

party to full or from full to 3rd party), then that needs to be done

with the insurance agent before going to the traffic department and

the insurance certificate should be provided along with the

application.

If the buyer is opting for car loan, then the buyer should provide a

sponser letter.

If buying on ready cash, then letter is not required.(When i sold

the car, they didnt ask for any letter)

(This process wil be done in 5-10 mins apart from waiting for your

turn)

Thats it...

1) You & the buyer go to Traffic dept, bring along all valid DL & seller car registration card. Go to the typist & get the forms done. First-time car buyer in Qatar will need company letter in arabic stating no objection for the purchase. Go to the counter & all will be done. All outstanding traffic fines must be paid before the transfer of ownership. Administration fee applied

2) Get someone from those 2nd car dealers at salwa road to do it on behalf. Their fees charges varies, beside the traffic administration fee. Papers require same as above
