I need the advice on what to do as i experienced very worse situation last night.

I had to travel with family via Qatar Airways and made online purchasing of tickets. The flight time was 12:25 midnight. I reached at the air port one hour before. After baggage screening, reached to the counter. there were two more passengers before me in the queue,

when i reached at the counter, the lady on counter checked the ticket, passport and told me to put the lggage . but after 5 minutes, she told that we r late and she can not board us on the flight. it was 11:45 PM that time. i argued her too much, then she calld the supervisor. He came at 11:53PM and after listening whole story, he told ,ok i will see and talk to my supervisor. then he left and came back after 10 minutes and told  soory they can not board us, his supervisor not agree.

we went to his supervisor he was very un co-operative person and straight away he said, u supposed be at the counter one hour before the flight so he can not do anything.

simply purchase another ticket for next flight. he said.

proble is that the tickets were in promotion and tthey says it can not be cancelled or rufund before or after the flight.

i told them, i don't want refund, send us via next flight ut they were not listening. in this case, i have to loose more then QR 5500.

I spent more then 3 hours at the air port aling with family and went here and there to solve this issue ut nobody listened at all.

Now in this situation, i need some advice on what should i do. i don't want refund. i want ticket for me and my family to use for next trip. now i am at home and just thining what to do.

Pls give some advice.

Quite Unneccessary to remind him "Hes late "

Last Year ,I checked in my baggage early and then went out wiht friends and was royally late by the time I reached the boarding gate .They put me on the next day flight and no charges.Promotion- ticket is the problem here .Else you would be home by now:)"

Dear Friend,

Sorry to hear your situation. I understand when u fly with u r family u can be late, but for a airline and for staff time is very important in aviation industry, so we have to think from the airline side as well.

Taking you to the flight without baggage and sending it on the next flight is not possible. Baggages has to go on the flight that u fly.

Now what you have to do

------------------------

Shouting and raising you voice on people will not lead you anyware. If u do like that people will not do anything for u. These tickets its of no use now if you dont wanna pay the no show fee. So the best thing is to write a letter to Mr. Akbar CEO of Qatar Airways, admit its u r mistake and request him to help you with this matter and I m really sure he will help u.

---------------------------------------------------------

-- Admit u r mistakes, be responsible for your actions --

rohtahir: sorry but your concerns are unreasonable - you purchased a promotional fare and showed up just one hour before flight time. You stand no chance against QA and basically pissed your money away because next time you decide using those tickets will have to pay double (at minimum) plus penalty fees just to get the actual fare costs.

they had no reason to put you on the next flight.  they were not at fault, you were.  we all have families, tons of luggage,etc...but we make sure to be at the airport 2-3hours before.  if you bought a promotional ticket, they have the right to do nothing.   how do you know the next flight wasn't sold out? also, just because they came to the boarding lounge 10 minutes before doesn't mean they just checked in.  they could have been shopping, eating, or sitting in the QA business lounge.

The point is, why they did not agree to send us via next flight. it was possible. also the ticket was two way ( return). by this way, all of it lost.

I am sure you can find a solution to this problem but keep in mind that you showed just one hour before the flight when you were supposed to be three, or two hours, at minimum.

Maybe the flight was overbooked and someone took your spot. I hope you keep this in mind for the next time.

This isnt unusual with Qatar Airways as their staffs are confused as ever. they pose so much of formalities which make your travel a nightmare. all you can do it make your voice louder and make a point you travel with some reputed true star airlines like Emirates or even budget airlines.

I think its your fault man. Any airline will always advise to be at the airport three hours before the flight. Charge it to experience as you cannot do anything about it even if you complain. Next time be prepared. I agree with FlyingAce, not travelling with QA would not even make a dent on their company. Tough luck. Shit happens.

By not traveling on QA it won't harm them a bit.....I suppose, if you would have arrived even 1:30 mins Prior to Departure you would have made it on that particular Flight.

Well friends, i think that all of u assumed that i was habitual to come late at the air port. I was travelling with family and three children. due to some unexpected reasons it happened and i could not reach at the air port on time.

But the point is that, Air line staff could manage it. not by delaying the flight but there were more options. i told them to send us by this flight and lugage through next flight, they refused. i told them to send us via next flight , they refused. no co-operation at all.

Next day, i booked bu Emirates and went to my destination.

that time, i specially observed that, some passengers came in the boarding lounge just 10 minutes befoe the flight time. one family came just half hour before and were accepted. when we moved to shuttle bus , that family was entering into the boarding lounge.

I learnt a lesson from this incident that, never choose Qatar Air line and always travel via Emirates. And i wil follow it and will tell all my friends not to travel via this air line. if i change manimum 10 people to reject this air line, enough for me. i don't care for my lose of QR 5500.

While I am sorry that you missed your flight, but the rules are very clear, you need to understand if they had allowed you to board the flight could have been delayed, as it may have been parked far away from the terminal ( which is what the supervisor may have gone to check , when he left you) . They do try to help you IF , they can , but not at the cost of a delay, which they will be pulled up for and is not fair to passenegers who came on time. You must reach the check in counter latest  1 hour before departure , not the airport or the check in line, but the counter. Roads are being dug up, traffic jams etc  - plan for these diversions . your ticket was a promotional, dont expect to get a refund at the bottom level, speak to the mangement , maybe they will help , if they can.Next time , stick with a travel agent they give you a lot more information, may cost a bit more , but its worth it.All the best.

First QatarAirways sells discounted tickets online. Then they hire many Karwas and Pathans etc and put all their vehicles on the airport road to create a big traffic jam. They also dig up half the road on some pretext or the other! Like this they delay all the passengers so that they miss the flight due to 'no show'! Amazing Business policy!

if all the passengers have boarded, then whats the point in jst sitting on the tarmac? Then you will be complaining tat QA forced you to sit for 10 minutes.

The check in counters for your flight closes 45 mins before the scheduled time and, gate closes 20 mins before and you come in to the airport an hour before!!!

Qatar Airways ensure that their flights take off in time and not get delayed because of guys like you.

Anyways hope you do learn from your mistake. Next time do an online check in which saves you time. - you could have requested the manager to put you in the next flight - considering however that you feel you are right, you might have been rude to them. Their system would have a "no show" - make a request and be polite - admit you were wrong though. All the best.

its a Qatar Airways the only airline in the world       who leaves before time

I experienced it twice. They left  once 10 minutes and then  12 minuts from Doha to London.

Any how 1 should be on airport 2 hours before  when holding discounted tickets.

Its a lesson 4 others as well.

In addition to Minoush , they're answerable to authorities for delaying a single minute too...besides a heavy fine and so many explanations/warnings are served for a single flight delay.

What are you saying?  It was Qatar Airways who made him show up only one hour before his flight and made him miss the plane? You miss the point entirely.  He came to the airport too late.  Check in closes 20 minutes before departure.  There was no way he could have made the flight.  QA was not going to make the flight late in order for this guy to catch it.  What would have been the ramifications?  What if now many passengers sittig on the plane missed their connecting flight because the plane waited for this guy?Qa states on their ticket to show up 2 hours before a flight (Possibly even 3 hours, I can't recall.)It is 100% this guy's fault.

Qatar Airyways always do like this. They pruposely do these things to get more money. I think this is preplanned by top managment to do like this. The same thing happened to me, whn i buy an offer ticket.. but i play a trick and got saved.. But since then i stop travelling to such a dirty playing airlines, who just think of ther benfit by hook or crook.

We often make mistakes from our side...

last time I reached airport only 20 minutes before the departure, the sign boards were blinking 'Check in open’ but the person on the counter refused to take me as it was too late...I tried my all luck to grab the flight but useless...

but we arranged a next flight reservation at the moment and luckily didn't bear any penalty…

Sorry dear, you have lost the right to claim by reaching the airport just one hr before departure. Moreover, according to you, your one hr included other formalities like baggage screening which in turn included queuing up time for the screening. So you must have reached the desk barely 40 to 45 min before departure of your flight which was to be followed by immigration. Not enough by any means.I have missed a flight for exactly the same reasons as yours. "1 hr", but then I knew it was my fault. I accepted it and the airlines cooperated buy accommodating me on the next flight next day without any penalty whatsoever.

Sorry, but I agree as well.  You came to the airport way too late.  You need at least 90 minutes to 2 hours.  It was your fault.  You were lucky there were only 2 people ahead of you, usually there are a lot more.  Even if they said yes at the ticket counter, you still have passport control and security and the time it takes to get to the gate.  You would have never made it.  What did you expect, they keep the plane waiting for you because you showed up late?  It's not their fault.  That's why airlines always say 2-3 hours before.

Well reaching 1 hr b4 for an international flight is late... To be honest. On the other hand, experience tells me that if the same situation happened on an emirates flight you would have found more accommodative, listening and considerate staff

sorry but did you say you got to the airport 1 hour before your flight? How many times have you flown mate? Even 2 hours prior would be the bare min for most people...if you purchased a No Change ticket then you LOSE.....why do you think airlines advise arrive at the airport 3 hours prior?

Next time just make sre that you are at the airport at least two hours before the flight.since you  have bought the ticket online - make sure you do a web check in and print your boarding pass also and take it along with you. It is clearly mentioned on the ticket as to what the rules are regarding late arrival.

I think the smart move is take your ticket to any travel agent 1st !! Normally as a NO show you would have to pay some penalty i think 100 bucks per ticket !! However dont see a reason for not getting a refund! Promotional tickets normaly have no refund as offcourse they are cheaper !! But then again you can get a refund on approval of top management so best option try out the travel agents 1st thanks

You reached the airport 'one hour' before your flight...I think this is where your problem lies. You should've been in the airport at least two hours before your flight (if you booked economy class) and an hour and a half if business class. Boarding time is normally one hour before the flight. Im sorry that you didnt board the plane, but with the details you have given here, I think it is your mistake. My husband and I usually come to the airport 3 hours before our flight, to avoid the rush and the crowd. I hope you will not look at this situation at your side only.

Use every door... complain at their main center, also complain on the facbook and other media... complain on every page... the Qatar Airways also has a complain building... but not let the mater to cool down.. make your voice loud and clear to their every part... then they will do the rightious...
