QATAR AIRWAYS FREQUENT FLIER PROGRAME

I AM MEMBER OF QATARIA S LOYALITY PROGRAME AND HAVING A SILVER CARD. USING QATARIA FACILITY PAYING TO THEM YOU EARN QMILES AND THEN YOU CAN USE IT TO GET TICKET OR USE QMILES TO PURCHASE ONBOARD FACILITIES.
I PURCAHSE AHMEDABAD DOHA AHMEDBAD TICKET USING QMILES + CASH. MY SON CAME ON SCHEDULE AND WANT TO RETURN ON SCHEDULE FLIGHT.
(1)i BOOKED TICKET WITH QATAR AIRWAYS ON 1 SEP 2008,ONLINE.AND PAY SAME TIME FOR IT USING QMILES THOSE I EARNED
(2)ON TIME OF BOOKIN I BLOCKED SEAT ALSO FOR RETURN FLIGHT.
(3)PART OF SHEDULED PROGRAME USEED AS HE ARRIVED DOHA.
(4)I RECONFIRMED BOOLING PROR 72 HOURS PESONALY AT QATAR AIRWAYS OFFICE.
(5)WE REPORTED 3 HOURS BEFORE TAKEOFF AT COUNTER IN AIRPORT FOR CHECK IN.
WOULD YOU BELIVE IT MY SON S BOARDING REFUSED EXPALINIG ME THAT YOUR SEAT CANCEELED SINCE FLIGHT IS OVERBOOKED.
THEY TOLD ME HE CAN TRAVEL NEXT AVAILIBILITY.
SON HAD VERY IMPOTANT SCOOLDAYS AND WHOLE ARRANGEMENTS DONE BY US TO TRANSFER FROM AHMEDABAD AIRPORT TO MY CITY LOST AND WE HAVE TO RE ARRANGE EVERY THING AND EVEN THEY CAN REFUSE AGAIN AS THEY DID TODAY IF REFUSAL JUSTIFIED.
NOW QUESTIAN IS HOW MUCH LEGAL ACTION OF QATARIA NOTING THAT THEY HAVE MY COMLETE PROFILE WITH MOBILE PHONE NUMER,LAND LINE NUMBER ABD MY EMAIL ADRESS. QATARIA CAN INFORME ME SITUATION BEFORE I REPORT FOR CHECK IN. THEY DID NOT.
IF I REPORT LATE,I AM PRIVILEGE CLUB MEMBER AND HAVE A PRIVILGE, AND I HAVE RIGHT TO GET SEAT, BUT HERE I REPORTED 3 HOUSR BEFORE AND SEAT NOT AVAIL MEANS THEY CANCELLED SEAT WELL AHEAD KEEPING ME IN DARK.
SO QATAR AIR DECEIVED ME - A PERSON WHO IS LOYAL TO THEM.
-AND THEY CAN DO TO ANYBODY.......................
WHEN I COMPLAINED,
THEY OFFER PEASE OF MUTTER,THEY THREW SOME AIR MILES TO ME TO KEEP QUIET. BUT THIS WILL NOT MODIFY THE FAULTY SYSTEM.
THEN WHO WILL TRUST QATAR AIRWAYS?AND THEIR LOYALITY PROGRME?

Knowing both the fine print and your rights as a passenger will help. Be ready and be flexible if traveling on a free ticket. If you are a full-fare passenger, know what priority you are and speak to the gate agent if you think a mistake is being made. Don't assert rights that you think you have but don't, the agents will peg you as uninformed and treat you as such. Ask nicely to speak to a supervisor. Take down the name of the person you are dealing with. Never raise your voice or threaten, you will immediately take yourself out of any consideration and place yourself in a security risk position. Follow all the rules. And yes, I've been bumped more times than most people have flown.

They should already be doing that if they are following IATA rules.

American Airlines used to overbook during summer time their flights, but they first call for volunteers, and offer them, Money, Hotel and 3 meals, and a ticket for the next day. I used to jump every time the ask for volunteers, and get a check of $1.000 or $800 I think QA should do the same.

Reading Mandi's comments above ... everybody should be ready all the time for a treatment like this from any airline

Did you Google it first?

No, just that privilege club membership doesn't put you ahead in the queue for overbooking on an award ticket. If you are traveling on a free ticket you are subject to being "bumped" in case of overbooking and because you are traveling for free you are not entitled to compensation. Those are the rules for ALL airlines not just QR.

so the final point ... everybody should be ready all the time for a treatment like this from QA... even if he is a privilage club memeber!!!

When a flight is overbooked there is a system to determine boarding priority. I'm afraid that those traveling on award tickets are just one step above stand-by passengers and below all revenue travelers. The first priority would be full-fare passengers and through passengers. It's all in the fine print. The reason they didn't notify you is that they didn't know how many passengers were going to show up. It IS legal to overbook flights and your priority just wasn't high enough, sorry. But from what I can determine they handled it as would any other airline, according to the international rules of transport.
