kadaut...
One day, when I'm feeling playful, I'm going to pick a fight at some of the petrol stations, because the bowsers clearly say:
0.80 Dirham per liter, when they should say 0.80 Riyals per liter.
I don't think I'd get very far, but it's a mistake that should be corrected (in a perfect world!!).
mr nisar said u r punk ...hummm it sounds foul !
careful of your internet etiquette... u sound like black people in America,
The money which I gave him is pack very well.

I wish they do, all the countries in the worlds have coins in different values and in use.
you find in grocery shops, specially carrefour and Mega mart items with 10 dirhams or 55 or 65 and so on, but they return back in 25 & 50 dirhams
we only have 2 and rarely used.

Lol, perhpas he didnt want the coins as they would drag his pants down when he was runningi from pump to pump.
In my home town, they wont take massive amounts of change for payment unless it is rolled, but 30 coins is hardly a massive amount.

I have lots of 25 & 50 dirhams, whenever I go to the bakala to buy small items, they are happy to have it...
I'd love to get 1 dirham and 5 dirham coins... (last issued in 1973!), Imagine paying at carrefour or lulu with exact change.
why don't they issue new coins, the last set of 25 and 50 dirhams was issued more than 20 years ago, when we had a total population of 300,000.
You're right, but in many countries establishments do refuse to take coins above a certain total value. perhaps this is the same here ?
well if it's legal tender, they don't have the right to refuse the change.

Mr. Q's Blog - A Qatari's view on Qatar.
I have come across this before though in Vietnam where they give you small change (very small compared to Qatar!) in chewing gums.
Whaaaat?coins are illegal.Anyway,I have not seen 50 dirahm coins for ages.
Are they still rounds or squares???
Didn't do that before.
when ever I have coins, which is rarely, I try to pay with it in the grocery shop or pile as much of them and drop them in the Charity boxes.

So THAT'S where all the coins have gone!
Best you take them to your local supermarket and put them back into circulation.
Roadtester, Cinnamon Chiclets are nice.
but it flows in to single direction...
can we give it to S/M or grocery in exchange? or 50 Dhs; what about weight machines also need 50 dhs coin?
LOL Bleu - was just about to say the same - in Ezdan supermakerket they use Sheikh - Chiclets currency, though must be cinamon.
Try Orange or Banana-flavored chewing gum, it has a 50 dirham value. I regularly use them to pay for the groceries, it's much cheaper this way.
Remember, it must be Orange or Banana, no Strawberry or Mint or anything you could enjoy.
Maybe they don't know how to count the coins.
