Qatar is a good country to live in, but...
Hello evrybody,
well i've been here in Qatar for 1 week, and i really find it a good country and a promissing country as well.
its a good country for famillies, and not for singles.
i work in carrefour as a personnel assistant manager, and the the job is really nice but its tiresome.
i saw people from all over the world, indianm, pakistani, Nepali, american, french, and of course a lot of lebanses, where i spend most of my time with them in the city center, where are a huge group of lebanese, we work together and have luch together, and im realy enjoying my time.
Qatar is booming, everybody is saying so, but it needs more time.
well, what i hated about this country, is being strict with relationships between opposite sex, you can\t walk with your girl friend while catching her hand or something, ts considerd a taboo....while if you are a gay and you catch your "boyfriend" hand its really normal !!!!!
besides, well people here are crazy while driving, you can't drive safely.
in general, Doha is developping and Qatar is booming, but its needs more time, and it has to be less strict
Dont say anything bad if you havent try. Not all Filipina's are same. I cant blame you maybe there are some like what you think but dont GENERALZE... Good luck to your new career.
oh really ?? i havent noticed that...
well good for him !!! he found a Q.A. gurl and she should keep him busy for a while;
...since this has been posted on 09/03/2006, I think 'noname' got used to it looong time ago... unless he left the country

fi 3andak shi 7abbeh ndifeh elna kamen ? :P j/k
Qatar is a non-paradise zone. In Qatar & Suadi Arabia people want to maintain their religion.
Hi
I need a QA Girl too where did u find one?
Hi Noname,
The housing allow is something like QR 6500, but there is no such defined break-up. It's a lumpsum salary. What I have budgeted is QR 5000 as I need a 1BR with hall. Someone from my employer has gone to view some aprtmts and will send me snaps. Hope I can manage within the budget.
Thanks for reply on the other posting clarifying the issues about Indians and their knowledge base. I am glad that you know some classy ones too!

Well, butterfly here is the good news, i walked with the girl on the cornich and we threw stones in the sea, and we put our hands together, and it was 1:00 in the midnight....and nobody said anything....well that's good so far...and guess what i moving to my flat today, i'll miss the Rydges hotel, its was nice staying there for 14 days...
Siddh what is the amount of housing allowance?
Noname....thanks for the info. My co. said they will keep some aprtmnts ready for my view so that I can finalise upon arrival. The 1st 3 days, I will be accomodated in a hotel. I really do not know how much i will have to spend for housing (the co. pays allowance & I have to manage on my own). Lets see.....
well it's interesting to know that u hv got a QA gal and at the same time do not know the road to yr house. I envy such lifestyle as I cannot hang around anymore, being committed to someone (I am married ...LOL).
Hehehe, that's my boy, Noname. A week here and you already found yourself a QA girl to hang out with. :D
I hope it would be ok in Thailand. The cost of living there is so cheap, we would be saving a lot of money. The same cannot be said about Qatar. They will be paying him more than here! It is actually in Phuket, not mainland.
So not too worried about hookers and smelly pipes!

sidhh, i work for careffour, yes that's true, but i want to tell you something i've been in Doha for 10 days and i really do know nothing about roads, for instance i rented an appartment, and i don't know how to get there (lol) i really don't know how to get there from carrefour, Doha is a round about, i know nothing, and for appartments its really really hard to find. and its expensive.
Butterfly,
Get ready for more smelly pipe smells :)
No butterfly...don't be scared. I hv worked there & there are lot of expats. I was just kidding.
but at the same time, I do not deny that men may get lured to the activities around.....but thas a personal choice. No serious comments about it. it's NOT something sort of 'must-to-do'. In fact lead by Thailand, many SE Asian countries have similar situation, but expats still live there.
One thing is for sure that GCC countries are more wealthy & have a stable economy, which u will not find there. For this reason, basic amenities like power, water, medical, schooling are not up to the mark always.
It's yr personal choice & priority.
Butterfly...
Siddh is right about Thailand, I been there and know what he means...
The girls there are everywhere like there is no men in this country and they do their best to seduce men...
Actually I didn't like Thailand except their economic and their cheap products.
What a move from Doha to Thailand :)
Ayman
ha ha.....well there is saying in our language which says: if u hold someone by the ear the rest of the body will come with it! so a wife knows where to hold the hubby so the entire of her hubby is in her grip...am i right?
i didn't attempt any perosnal offence at any point of time. appreciate yr sporting spirit.
btw, soemwhere I saw a pic of yrs in Sri Lanka. U hv posted it smartly as it is a silhouette, u hv not shown yourself!! ha ha
LOL. Come on, Siddh, my husband is not that "kind" of man.
LOL
But just in case, I'm holding on his hand real real tight. And one we reach there, I'll make sure that I hold on to everything that needs to be held.
LOL. No butterflying around.
Butterfly...hold yr hubby's hand more firmly once u reach Thailand. If u already do not know the reason, u will know once u reach there. he he
It's a good country with fantastic holiday spots. DHL is reliable in this part of the world, so do not worry. Wish u & yr family good luck.
NONANME - since u said u work for Carrefour (it was my fav when I used to be in Jakarta)...can u tell whether OryxGTL's office is nearby? If yes, what are the popular residential areas near to that...I need to find an acco upon arrival.
thax Pickle...Awww, hopefully it will arrive sometime soon...
thax Pickle...Awww, hopefully it will arrive sometime soon...
Good luck with the DHL contract Butterfly - I work for DHL in Manchester, and judging by what goes on there I wouldn't want to rely on it turning up!! I'm sure the overseas branches are more efficient though!
:) No offence to anyone, but I call the area where I live Pakiland, because most of the residents around here are from Pakistan.
Hey, I love philippinos, they are really good hearted people and very well mannered. You might want to give them a try ;0)
My plan to move is still there. It's complicated. The prospect employer in Thailand has accepted my husband's proposed salary and conditions and they were DHLing the contract today. We'll see how it goes. I'm feeling a little skeptical (sp?).
Good luck on your "chasing girls" mission.
by the way, you resides near me, in Doha, and ell me what happened with your plan to move???
you have to thank God you are married, im chasing girls here...lol
and guees what all of them are Philipenes ....damnnn
hehehe, the fact that two men hold hands doesn't necessarily mean that they are homosexual! There is a huge taboo about homosexuality here.
I used to freak out at the sight of two men holding hands, but it's normal.
I feel lost if I don't walk holding hands with my husband... I feel like I'm going to lose him, like he's going to run away or something. So I do hold hands with him.
Anywayz, you survived your first week in Doha!
