Qatar International Beauty Academy inaugurated

DOHA The first beauty academy in Qatar was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of HE Munira bint Nasser al Missned, the chairperson of the Social Development Centre (SDC) Board of Trustees.

The SDC chairman signed an agreement with Christine Tilley, the president and founder of Yorkshire English College of Beauty Therapy in Britain on the establishment of the academy. The event was attended by a large number of people who witnessed the signing of the contract between the two parties. Qatar International Beauty Academy (TAJMEEL) will open its doors in September waiting for its first intake in January next year and will be located at the Social Development Centre building.

The school will admit women nationals and non-nationals provided they are 16 years and above. The academy will also have a commercial salon which will offer services to the public. Christine Tilley said, “I am delighted to be here working with such a reputable organisation and having an opportunity to manage such a project and one that I have always aspired to do.

It was 18 months ago when I was initially approached by SDC and given the opportunity to show them around my college in the UK”.

Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Tilley said that this school will be of help to many expatriates who send their children to other parts of the worlds for these courses.

She said that the college will recruit a bilingual trainer who will for easy communication. The academy aims to offer training development services in the field of beauty in accordance with the internationally accredited standards and to help to redevelop and structure the beauty sector in the state of Qatar.

The academy is accredited by international organisations including, CIDESCO, CIBTAC for beauty and holistic therapy training and City & Guilds College for hair styling. Others guests at the venue were, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs HE Ahmed al Naser; Chairperson of Al Faisal Holding Company HE Sheikh Faisal bin Kasem al Thani, and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs HE Abdullah bin Nasser al Khalifa.
