QATAR IT Infrastructure so poor

Why is it that in such a modern and growing country we are treated to such a poor internet speed. Im sat here this morning trying to do some work and getting 17KB/sec. Ive worked all around the workd and never seen anything like this, how are we meant to become a knowledge based society when you cant even access the knowledge!

When do the new internet cables go live, I might just use morse code until then as its quicker......

Its a complicated issue. But I can tell you this much. The government understands how critical this is. They are investing in their own fibre from Asia to Qatar and onwards to Europe. They will bring bandwidth prices down and speed up this way and they aim to get that speed to every house in the land. Will this happen overnight? No. But every year things will get better. Until then I suggest you get the new black QTEL stick which is fast enough.

Dunno abt others, I never had speed problem with Qtel mozaic other than frequent brief disconnection (may be coz of modem). true to what jokula said, for the price I am quite happy compared to other service providers.

Although the speed is low, our charges are very high. So it is balanced. Happy surfing.
