QBS

There sure is a major problem with the frequency reception and its more than a week that the problem is still there. Its so frustrating esp when you have ur fav song on air and u cant hear it.......

I really enjoyed reading that topic and the comments..they addressed one of the things that provoks me like hell ...THE SHI#@&^Y FRENCH TRANSMITION hey guys this is not the 18th century any more we all speak English and no body gives a damn about French anymore ( I like France by the way)...who the hell needs this stupid ugly waste of air waves French programme...please please stop it

I wrote that posting today morning as a seperate topic..but since people here are disccussing QBS I thought it is a good idea to copy my topic here.....

"Can anyone tell me what is wrong with Qatar Broadcasting Service (QBS) these days? It all started a couple of months ago with a constant irritating voice of a clock ticking in the back ground, I first thought that life in Doha is finally taking its toll on me and I am imagining things, but all the other channels were doing just fine and my alleged "hallucinations" were confined to QBS. Then about a week ago the transmission became really awful, with the voice only audible when the car is standing still, and totally fading whenever the car moves. I changed the car and I discovered that the same syndromes are still persisting! And as if all that is not enough, today I was able to hear all of Elias's phone conversation while Justin Timberlake song was playing on! Now I really need to know are others having the same bizarre time with QBS or do I need to go and have a real long vacation."

Hey guyz... I thought we were supposed to rate the newsreaders from Best to Worst... lets seehow many of us actually have the patience to listen to all those bulletins and summaries... Cmon guz lets rate them on a scale of 1 to 10

...is so painful to listen to that I can't remember the last time I tuned it in. There is not one dj on there that sounds like a professional.

Do a google search. Most stations in north america have live websites. Listen in...you'll be shocked.

Try www.CHUMfm.com in Toronto...then try listen to QBS.

Ever since I got cable & Internet, I haven't touched QBS or QTV, which is almost 7 years ago. I hear QTV is boring as ever, not sure about QBS. I loved the show of Elias something, he was an interesting guy..is he still on QBS?

The subject about Dj moe . well i love his show its exactly what Qbs needs at the moment fresh young blood who understand our taste and he is one hilarious dude. MOJOJO HAHA and the part when he Actually made fun on goerge haha Hilarious george didnt have an answer .

i heard from friends that Qbs is pressuring Moe to leave because oldies like elias and bernie are being threatened by him and btw goerge is elias's son .. thats why he got the job . and news of Moe getting into trouble SO he could play his and the audiences muzik .but QBs as USUAL want oldies c'mon who listens to these .. well serioulsy hats OFF for the GUy .. for being the one who understands our misery from the Radio . thumbs up for the dude , he plays every thing ( hip hop , r & B , Dancehall , soca , Trance , dance ) c'mon mix of New and old school . Where is he ? he is away for a while isnt he ? When is his show?

well...any VJ who cant' get a job in Lebanon comes to Doha and works in QBs as the city's hippest and coolest VJ, reads couple of info on tance, house music, greets his million year old Brit colleages and feels good about himself, it also makes the people hiring him feel good about themselves and their station coz they think they got the best of lebanese Vj's...well thank god for CD's in cars and trance music, who needs to tune into QBS when your car fits 6 CD at once. hehehe

Hey ppl...No comments on the new DJ --- DJ Moe??? By the way, he is a Qatari. He is the very first Qatari to be working as a DJ... So I guess hats off to him. By the way, he has a good selection of music.

How about our newsreaders? I think outa all the news readers I've heard, I'd rate them from Best to Worst in the following order - Elias, Anjali, Huda, Dale, Amanda, Maria Metri, Bernie

i totally agree with your point of you,Aisha.. Reading all these comments about QBS on this site indicates that QBS has listeners..and WE as listeners must politely write our suggestions and requests without hurting anyone's feelings..for i fully believe that every member of the QBS staff is putting his/her utmost effort to make QBS a much better radio station..

Richard123 is sadly among those who just want to critisize anything and everything that exists on QBS..i don't think that the harsh things you wrote on Feb.8th is what QBS is asking for..

i see some good improvement on QBS..and in fact,they do have good DJs and RJS..i REALLY like JOE METRI and RANA..and my favourite newsreaders are MARIA METRI and HUDA WALEED..(EVERYBODY including yourself makes mistakes,Richard..no offense :)! )..

aisha honey, they know what we are writing here and they say what richard has mentioned in another thread. they criticise our writing.i didnt hear the show so i am just referring to what sl and richard have mentioned in the other thread of blood donation posted by kimo.

if they were really concerned they would want to know more about their shortcomings instead of criticising others.

on this. I think it is fair to attack him on a personal level because he has put himself in the limelight and considers himself a "personality" in Doha.

Bernie is truly awful. He has no redeeming qaualites at all. QBS is the worst radio station I have ever heard anywhere in the world and most of the DJ's would not get the opportunity of doing their job anywhere with even the lowest standards.

The news on QBS is a joke. There is not a single good newsreader. The English woman sounds like a five year old just learning to read. There is another woman with an American accent who also pronounces everything wrong and then there is the awful Bernie and the smug Elias The French "expresso" news program is actually quite good and does cover international news and events and what is going on in Qatar.

The English language news though is dreadful beyond description. It comprises of poorly written press releases and newswire stories cobbled together and poorly read by the above. None of them can posibly be journalists.

QBS should have high standards or they shouldn't bother at all.

Musiclovergirl has put up an email address. I think we should use it.

It just doesn't feel right. I don't know.

They should improve, no doubt. But is this the way to convince them? I strongly doubt it.

Bernie does not play new music. he plays musis from the 60s (with jingles from the 60s too) and despite 20 years experience he still can't read

Wellll if you want them to improve you could have criticized nicer! There is no Radio station on earth that doesn’t want to be liked by its listener. The fact that you know that much about their programs means that you do listen to them alot :-D soo there must be something good there.

I do not listen to the radio much but I do remember QBS is not very good . However, they do broadcast new songs, don’t they? They seem to be living the same world as they keep the connection between reality and radio ( on Christmas, new year, ..etc)

I say we can suggest them things. I don’t see a reason why they won’t care.

Bernie Lyons reads the news. I use "reads" loosely because it is about the standard of a 5 year old and he is a native speaker.

And what is that music he plays? It wasn't even popular 40 years ago when most of it was released.

I'm afraid it is 96.5 (Radio Bahrain) every day (weather permitting).

The French afternoon!!? How did they wangle that? I mean ok there are some french here but not nearly enough to justify a 30% of the airtime

hey it seems like most of you here hate QBS...By the way, they now have an email address where you can post your comments/suggsetions and even tell them who's ur favorite or not so favorite DJ/news reader/announcer etc. Its [email protected]

I know we have all heard this before - but I really dont think things will change here with the radio stations unitl more are ALLOWED to set up. There are so many people here that would set up more stations if only they were granted a permit to broadcast.

Yet again a situation of Qatar rules and regualations preventing progress.

I personally listen to the Emirates stations and the ones from Bahrain - they are much better!!!!!

Aaaah...QBS. Now that's a topic close to most readers hearts :)

Sure there may be lots and lots of French speaking folks here, but aren't there even more ENGLISH speaking people? :-) Of course I live in Lala land, the radio in my car manages to catch the QBS signal doesn't it?

one more thing you should add, Most of the song they play during on air are old. It is better to go to torrent site and download as much as MP3s to play in the car.
