Yesterday was the interesting nights. QPO Musicians played all different pieces from countries around Europe. Three of their pieces that was my favourite were ‘Vlatava [The Moldau] from Ma Vlast, Blue Danube Waltz and Salute.

Was enjoying Blue Danube Waltz so much that I did not realize I was singing to myself.

I noticed one of our QL’er Dimtorch in the front row playing the violin.

Second time I heard ‘Salute’ live on orchestra composed by Marcel Khalife , I listened to it first time on opening concert of QPO, since then I falling in love to the song. I noticed they replaced the ‘tabla’ Arabic percussion with the drum. The sound is not exactly the same, but still is I enjoyed it very much.

Next week they will play Arabic song with the orchestra. That would be a very interesting night for me, certainly don’t want to miss out (have booked my tickets).

QPO will have a special concert on the 27th of June, they will playing a Hollywood movie sound tracks (mainly from Starwars), my son who usually not interested going to classical concert (although he plays piano) said he want to come and watch the concert. So if you have any kids who learning musical instruments this would be a perfect event to bring them to see this concert.

Question to QL’er Rojni (if you reading this) : Will QPO ever recording their own CD album? I would be the first people queuing up to buy it :).

Hey, Novi. I went for last Saturday's performance but the crowds were so huge, missed you. "Pirates of the Carribean" still ringing in my mind's ear :o)

Although the blue screen, at times when the projector had problems, was a tad irritating. Ah well.. t'was a brilliant performance. Can't wait till they start their new season.

During summer is the Kid's programme. Are you going? Where's it gonna be held anyway?

sknox, the next 2 weeks program would be interesting. Arabic music in orchestra then following week is hollywood soundtrack, it wont be the long winded classical pieces (which I know not everybody cup of tea).

If you going drop me a PM ... maybe we all can sit together ...

They are brilliant....

have your spirits uplifted by their magnificence and go!

Their playing managed to evoke the cultural and the historical contexts of the respective pieces - it was that amazing.

Sigh! I really wanted to go for Saturday's performance .. but had to work :0(

/Next week - selection of Arabic works by contemporary composers - would be very interesting. Hope I can make it.

There's another one - recital for 2 violins and piano on Sunday 21 June at Qatar Academy Auditorium. Where's that? Open to public?
