QR reservation
By Mandilulur •
OK, I am NOT pleased. I'm holding a QR reservation DOH-BKK for 22JUL-30JUL and I paid 3320QAR about a month ago on QR's website. I just checked the website and the sme flights in the same fare category are now 2650QAR. There is no e-mail address for QR that is listed on the website and when I called the number in the US (where I am now) I got a recording about baggage allowance (very helpful.) Does anyone know if I can get a ticket re-issue/refund for the lower fare even if I have to pay a penalty? The opacity of their system is just beyond me.
Mandi
There's a 100 QAR change penalty, no problem, but there's a 500 cancellation fee. My issue is that I'm not in Doha to deal with them. Guess I'll have to wait. Thanks, all!

Tallg - you are ight. It gets too much at times on QL.
Regarding the fares - What I stated is on a normal course. the RBD system ( revenue based designators) allows the customer to buy early and get the best. Later when the market trend shows a weak forcast, airlines are forced to bring down the fare levels. Thats when this happens.

Hi Arien. All good thanks. I find it's good to have a break from QL every now and then, else the inordinately large number of idiots on here get you down.
I've found on several occasions that the price can get lower as time goes on, so I don't think buying in advance always gets you the cheapest fare.
Mandi, it depends on the rules of your ticket, if it is changeable with or without pen, then you can have it changed. for the excess amount, if it is non ref, most likely it becomes a credit for your next booking.
if its refundable, then it shall be credited back to your account.
i suggest call the airlines first and have the rules and restriction checked.

It can happen, rare though. Its allways better to buy in advacne to get cheaper fares.
Mandi , sorry abt that , you can always refund the ticket and buy new one on the new fare, But again check whether ther is any refund penalty , and how much it is.
Hi Tallg, hw u doin? ddnt see u onboard for a while. :)

price fluctuations. in your case, it just occurred that the airfare on the date of your flight is less than your booked fare. it should have been good if what happened was the other way around.
Ram - that's a different issue. Mandi is talking about buying a ticket at a certain price one day, only to find out the tickets are cheaper a month later.
it always say: price/taxes are subject to change without prior noticed.
Same thing happend to one of my friends ...
He booked a ticket to egypt that cost him around 4,800 QAR.
I told him that all the fares are going down and u must have been deceived .. he didn't believe it ..
after checking the website of Qatar airways .. he found out that the ticket cost only around 2,500
i booked my ticket also going to egypt and it cost me around 2,450 ....
He didn't know what to do ... and when he tried to cancel it they told him the his ticket is non-refundable and he can't cancel it ..
How can travel agencies do that ??? We still wonder about it ??
Please people .. try to check the price of ur ticket in more than one place .. u might be fooled ...

I don't think this is a QR specific issue. Ticket prices of all airlines are constantly changing, and you often end up paying more depending on which time you buy it.
You can risk cancelling and rebooking (and paying the cancellation penalty), but as MissX said, you may end up with nothing.
I don't know anything specific about asking a refund. But it's pretty normal for airlines to drop their prices closer to the date of departure. You can either pay the normal price and book in advance, or you can wait for the cheaper price, but run the risk of there being no seats available when you try to book.
Sorry, I know that's not particularly helpful. Maybe go the US airport and they might be able to issue refunds on QR's behalf??
