Qtel cuts international call rates MASSIVELY
The Empire Strikes Back...
"Ramadan Campaign Provides Call Rates as Low as QR 0.29 per Minute to Anywhere in the World!"
http://www.qtel.com.qa/NewsFull.do?News=18042
You knew they'd do something, but 0.29 is amazing. Qatar must have some of the cheapest international call rates in the world by now.
Some key details of plan from Qtel site:
Ramadan Campaign Provides Call Rates as Low as QR 0.29 per Minute to Anywhere in the World!
To celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan, Qtel is offering Shahry Value Pack customers the lowest international call rates ever enjoyed in Qatar or the wider region.
Qtel is enhancing the value offered by Shahry Value Packs, with customers now able to make international calls using their monthly free minute allowance. As a result, effective call rates with Shahry Value Packs are now as low as QR 0.29 per minute.
The promotion runs from 12 midnight on Thursday night, through to 30 September, and is being automatically made available to every existing Shahry Value Pack customer.
With the new offer, customers with the Shahry 575 Value Pack can use any of their 2,000 call minutes for both local and international calls. This means staggeringly low effective call rates of QR 0.29 per minute – the lowest international call rate in the history of Qatar.
Customers using the Shahry 300 Value Pack, which provides 1,000 call minutes every month, will have an effective call rate of QR 0.30 per minute for international and local calls, while Shahry 200 Value Pack customers can use their 600 call minutes for international and local calls at an effective call rate of QR 0.33 per minute.
Even the most affordable Shahry Value Pack available, the Shahry 130, will provide 300 minutes at an effective call rate of 0.43 per minute – great value for international and local calling.
The solution you have provided i have done in past no use .. even i went to ur store .. when i told him the situation .. he himself tell me his own probz with qtel ...
& now u replace Urdu Language With Hindi .. u really make me switch to vodafone .. bye bye qtel

Sorry - your case is a bit complicated, so I had to check with customer services.
Customers are upgraded to Value Packs from the beginning of their next bill cycle. (This is standard practice, and is designed to prevent fraud.)
However, if what you're saying is accurate, and your last bill ended on Thursday 30 July, your new round of minutes, SMS, MMS and data download would become available to you on Friday 31 July.
Could I suggest you call 111 or visit a Qtel Shop with your billing details - show when your billing cycle ended. They'll hopefully be able to sort out the issue.
I hope that helps.
m goin for more Bebsi n Bobcorn...
Don you guyz stop the show....

Vodafone's launching services progressively so that network (or other business) issues can be fixed with minimum disruption to our customers.
We started early in the year with our FIRST 1000. Then we launched our SHAREHOLDERS' OFFER. Recently, we released FLEXI, which, as you point out, requires a credit card or direct debit and doesn't suit everyone.
Very soon, however, we'll launch RED, our offering targetted at workers. RED can be used without a credit card or bank account.
Don't worry... Vodafone will continue to launch exciting offers for our customers -- and they'll continue to be available to ALL our customers.
They made the MENA internatinal rates one riyals per minute, and they ALSO deduct from your phone bill while using the card!
Qtel / Ò«ÛÜÏ Qatar / ·ÁÍ 9742002 00:10:00 QR 3.50
For 10 min they deducted 3.50 QR and using prepaid they deducted 6 QR for 15 minutes!
Thats unfair!!!!!!
Please reply to my post.....
Thanks for your comments. We take our social responsibilities very seriously - in fact, they are one of the Seven Promises in our Customer Charter.
That's why Qtel offers the widest range of mobile products possible, from Dawli International Calling Cards, through to Hala, and on to Shahry. It's also why we offer the widest possible range of payment options and have outlets across Qatar, to make it easy for everyone to get the communication services they need.
In response to your point, two weeks before we launched the Shahry International Call Promotion, we launched a special International Offer on Dawli Calling Cards, that cut overseas calling rates for the most frequently-called countries by 50 percent.
http://www.qtel.com.qa/NewsFull.do?News=17444
Our research suggests that Dawli is the most popular option for bluecollar workers in Qatar.
In my opinion, both these companies are targeting high end customers with little regard for blue collar workers.
Qtel has announced promotion for shahry value pack users only which poor workers working on a monthly income of 800-1000 QR do not use. Thus, in my opinion, they have failed in their social responsibility of catering for one of their largest clientelle who also happens to be extremely needy for such a service.
Similarly, for getting a vodaphone line, you needs to have either a credit card or an ATM which these poor workers do not possess. Thus vodaphone has also isolated these wokers from getting any benefit of this scheme.
Is that limited to Ramadan Karim
"a first-ever Customer Charter".. "Complaints Process" - who would have ever thought Q-Tel of thinking along these lines!
Vodafone does make Q-tel review its long-term customer retention strategies..
If this isn't an indication of Q-Tel is trying to brush off its stone age practices, wht else would this be?
Was it very long ago that Q-Tel used to charge customers for Caller ID (CLIP), Call Forwarding, etc.. and fast forward today to 0.29 Dh for an international call which benefits atleast 10% of its customer base.
some things do change even if it took some time.. and Vodafone had to step in for it to happen..
On your question about your ADSL connection:
Qtel has just published it first-ever Customer Charter, which will hopefully help you. It lays out the Complaints Process very clearly, so if you need to escalate the process, you can do so.
http://www.qtel.com.qa/CustomerCharter.do
If you call 111 or visit a Qtel Shop, they should be able to help you.
If you’re finding that your Customer Service representative is not helping to resolve your problem, you can ask to escalate to the Customer Solutions Team (you should have a Unique Complaint Number that was sent to you via SMS and phone). The Solutions team should contact you within 24 hours and look to resolve the issue with your ADSL.
The next stage is the Customer Experience Manager, who will review the different options to resolve the issue to your satisfaction.
I hope that helps.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I’ve looked into the issue of password access.
You can receive your password for your Moziac TV+ router and Qtel is happy to provide it.
However, Qtel also needs to be able to remotely configure TV settings, so that if you order new channels or films these can be delivered to you directly, rather than requiring a technician to visit your house. For this reason, Qtel asks that you exercise caution when changing your settings, so that you don’t alter the basic TV configuration settings when looking to change your password for WiFi and access points. (This has happened for some customers in the past!)
If you can provide your landline number and account number for your Mozaic TV+ account (via PM or email - not on QatarLiving), we can provide with a unique password for your Router.
Let me know if you need further information.
The offer is valid only for Shary value packs; not for std Shary (post paid ) or Hala customer.
Plz answer my post...
CALL ANY WHERE ANY TIME for just .50 dhirham..
big fraud from qtel...

i told them about all the story they said sir, you should ask about your free minutes when it start.it is not written any where that customer shall call QTEL helpdesk before calling any where.
So, QTEL has played with me,please be careful you guys.
From Gulf Times:
http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=306873&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
To this end, Vodafone has recently launched their new rate of 50 dirham per minute for international calls.
However, this has prompted a new offer by Qtel which includes a tariff of 29 dirham per minute for some
customers.
Reacting to this offer, Maher argued: “The offer that Qtel has launched is limited to a very small number of customers. It is only available to their Shary value bundle customers which is approximately 10% of their base.”
“Even worse, to pay 29 dirhams you need to be on the most expensive plan so well under 5% of Qtel customers are getting this rate,” he continued, “in fact as a normal Qtel customer you will still be paying up to QR3.19 for international calls to some destinations.”
“Our offer is available to all Vodafone customers and we advertise the most you will pay for an international call which is the same cost as a local call,” he said, adding “actually people on our best value bundle will only pay 17.5 dirhams per minute.”
Qtelcomm what is your reaction to this???

Where is answer to my Question ???
Privacy of Mozaic Internet users ..
Hi everyone,
Apologies – as I should have explained, I’m writing this from Qtel, so can only deal with questions during work hours.
In quick response:
Abc1950: Sorry I wasn’t clear. It’s free to move up and down the Value Packs, so you don’t pay a fee to upgrade from the QR50 basic through to QR130 Value Pack (or to downgrade). However, there is a difference is price of QR80, because you’re getting more minutes, more SMS, more data download – the Value Pack price is QR130.
Licaben_216: Yes, you can use your bundled minutes internationally – you’re not paying any extra for your 600 minutes, wherever you call.
Gadarene: Sorry, I don’t see what your question is.
For people who are worried about going outside the Value Packs, it’s actually really easy. You get an SMS when you hit 80 percent of your usage within the month. You can chose to upgrade to the next Value Pack and get more minutes to keep calling, or pay standard rates once the Pack runs out. Either way, the Packs provide great value, since you also get SMS, MMS, and Data Download included.
Shiva87: We reading and listening, and we’re here to work for you. This weekend was one of our busiest of the year so far – in August! – with our call centres and shops welcoming thousands of people, suggesting this promotion is reasonably popular.
For those concerned about Customer Service, we’re listening and looking to make improvements. Watch this space.
I think its only for Shahry Value Pack customers.
The offer is only for Shahry. Not for HALA subcribers.
Vodafone for all.

1. How come now everybody is able to provide cheap international rates, but before you were ripped off with 2-4 riyal/minute rates?
2. How many people have Shahry value packs? Those packs start at 130 riyals... that can be too high for most...
3. Where are the prepaid offers? I'm sure Vodafone will introduce something in prepaid that will make the Hala people storm their stores. If I was VF I'd have made those stores from titanium - it can be quite stressing and expensive to refurbish them every day after business hours... especially Fridays when the workers have their day offs... :)
Having been a long time resident of Qatar we had always known that Q Tel int'l rates were quite high as compared to other countries. Q-Tel already being very well established and the sole telecom solutions provider were lagging behind in a lot of areas especially customer services. So, as soon as they see competition coming inbthey start overhauling their operations. My question to Q-Tel is why they did not introduce these changes earlier and only a competitor gave them a wake up call? On the other hand, I had to call Vodafone customer services and immediately felt their professionalism in addressing my concerns which shows that they have been very well trained in doing their job. Kudos to the Vodafone customer services team.
Vodafone being the new telecom service provider shocked everyone I knew by introducing the Qr. 0.50/ min int’l rates which were never heard of before. So now, I don't have to use VOIP or Fringe since I have my Vodafone handy with me and I can call anywhere any time I want & not worry about the charges. Though these rates are valid till sep. 30th, I am sure Vodafone have a lot more coming in the future. Even though Vodafone is very new in Qatar, they have been working hard and have done their homework pretty well & using their international experience. Qatar is having a majority expatriate population and their major concern was the rate for international calls. So now Q-tel make a big mockery of themselves by introducing a further reduced rates on int’l calls albeit with conditions that my fellow Qlers have already pointed out to. Why the same wasn't done all these years after ripping our pockets and raking in profits year after year?
In the end I would like to congratulate Vodafone for doing such a wonderful job in the very start itself after going through numerous hurdles. I hope it is just the beginning and we have just seen the tip of the iceberg!
Anyone from QTel? See where this is going? No?
Well, enjoy till you have customers :)
last year i took out roaming internet, got to italy tried to connect to internet....did not work....got home to find bill of over 500 riyals for 3 attempts to log on...i had forgot to exit and Qtel said its my fault and tough...........
then got crap mosiac supposed to be 2 months free movies (lying hounds) the bill was 480 riyals for movies i did not watch some were charged for watching 3 or 4 times.....der i was in england....so the ghosties must have moved in and watched the horror movies.....with wifi.....always got cut off from the net and took ages to reconnect....all the wasted hours on the rubbish customer services..
YOU STINK QTEL....AND TO THINK I TRUSTED YOU AGAIN WHEN YOU RECOMMENDED I CHANGE TO THE tHOMSON WIFI TO GET A BETTER CONNECTION AS YOU STATED THAT THE SIGNAL IN al wAAB AREA IS NOT GOOD...AND TO CANCEL IT IS GOINT TO COST ME 409 RIYALS...blah blah blah blah
Good. Thanks to Vodafone

qtel customer service is being taken to a whole new level!
With the new offer, can I now call everyone in Qatar? On the website it still says that these are Qtel to Qtel minutes only.
@ Qtelcomms...one simple question,i get myself a shahry value pack & get X no: of minutes depending on the pack i opt for, your "super low" rates are ONLY valid on the number of minutes in my package...once i cross those minutes though,"regular Q-tel rates apply"...i.e,switch back to ripping off the public,as opposed to Vodafone where there isn't any of this fine print,Qrs. 0.50 a minute, plain & simple, irrespective of how many minutes one uses,Qtel i know for a fact can match that but you guys have gotten too used to having your way...well,that's about to change my friend,it's only a matter of time before people realize the fine print in this one..."LOW RATE VALID ONLY ON THE NUMBER OF MINUTES IN YOUR SHAHRY VALUE PACK,AFTER THAT REGULAR,RIDICULOUSLY HIGH QTEL RATES APPLY"...any comments Qtelcomms??...
Hey Qtel!
I'm on Shahry 200 so does that mean if combined local, mobile and international calls are less than 600 minutes, my bill will still be 200 QAR, not an extra 0.29 on each international call?
Also where can I get a list of the international destinations, or is it really ANYWHERE in the world?
I want links from the Qtel website to be satisfied.
-----------------------------------------------------
Don't get angry with me! I'm only typing what you are thinking!
What actually Qtelcomms is saying... is very simple...
Trust Qtel for they from now on will always listen to the concerns of its customers, serve them well and provide them with economical call & data services far more competitive than Vodafone...
So, either take their words for it or just simply switch to Vodafone...
The best thing now is that we have the option.
For Hala customers, it is clear, as of now that Vodafone are your best choice... unless Qtelcomm's words can be taken as true to its worth that Qtel will come up with something for you, so, you can either switch now or wait for Qtel...
let qtel start to charge per seconds locally, because i cant believe it that someone that use 1.59min and the person that use 1.02mins will pay the same amount,
great news guys
Doesn't attract to me
I am unable to understand following section of your first post:
First you say that "Basic Shahry clients don't have to worry about a thing, call 111, pick the value pack you want to upgrade to and IT'S TOTALLY FREE"
Then later in the post you say "Moving from Standard Shahry to Shahry 130 will cost you QR80 more than before, and you’ll get 300 minutes to use internationally."
Is moving from standard Shahry to Shahry 130 TOTALLY FREE or does it cost QR 80????
Please clarify.
"QtelComms said Khurram82 ...
your Shahry 575 Value Pack will provide you with 2000 call minutes, just use them internationally."
Typical Qtel customer friendly type response... How very helpful.

Qtel has NOT done the Country or its people proud by giving this offer but from this we can see that Qtel is really made a mockery of itself. Talk about OVER THE TOP the international charges paid by customers for over 2 DECADES!! and then when the Gladiator"Vodafone" comes in, the MONOPOLY gets a doze of its own Poison.
I respect Vodafone for doing what others weren't allowed to do so far in this Country since Vodafone has not only helped to bring down international call rates but they have shown the SUPERIORITY by making QTEL bow down and cut down the rates. What a victory for Vodafone and all Vodafone subscribers.
I'm off to the Vodafone shop!!

50 qar is a lot for an indian labourer
I think you have to pay higher on shahry 130. You get 300 mins i guess on that plan, so those will be free calls.. so you pay 0.43hds/min on that tariff.. you pay 0.42dhs/min on flexi 110 with VF..
So, how I read it is, I can call international for 29dh/minute right? As long as:
I spend QR575 on a Shahry Value pack
It would be nice if I had QR575 to spend on my mobile!
OR if I wanted spend QR50/month on my mobile I could get what rate? QR1.38-2.99 on Standard Shahry? As long as I pay the QR50 connection fee and want a 3 month commitment and want to pay QR50/month on top of my calling, so that's QR100/month....
OR I could stay on Hala and pay QR1.53-3.19/minute?
OR I could stretch myself and go onto Shahry 130, pay QR130 and get the 29Dh rate, is that right? All I need to do is show my Qatari ID and away I go.
OR if I have to change plans and show my ID anyway I could just go onto Vodafone and get the QR35 plan and have access to 50Dh/minute and not spend QR130/month on a bunch of stuff I'll never use...
Its because of their customer services' attitude that I send someone else to pay my bills or through card.... Moreover, I hate to stay in the queue and see someone wearing Igaal & Gatura coming after and getting served directly.
When I went to their Customer Support Centre in Souq Najada to get an ADSL Line.....I asked them for the download speed and limit. They said....this much for "HIGH SPEED"....this much for "VERY HIGH SPEED" and this much for "VERY VERY HIGH SPEED"...I just left the counter smacking my head....AND it's not a JOKE.

This might not be relevant here, but as we're on around this topic, I would really like to know whom I can contact (not the customer service rep on 111, that's been of no use till now) for a complaint.
I've got your 1mbps ADSL connection, I don't expect to get full 1mbps but I get 0.22mbps. For the past month and more, the service is ABSOLUTELY terrible. Lots of technician visits, and no improvement at all. At the end of the day, we don't have a choice but to live with it, since you're the only ISP.
I need to speak to someone who has a higher authority than the Cmr rep, if you could get me the details (via PM if you please) that would be brilliant.
Just stating, there's a reason why people expect Vodafone to do better: It's not just the calling rates, your customer service harms your organization, a lot.
Dear KHATTAK,
the choice is yours to use the minutes whether internationally or locally, either way it's great value.
Dear 3D,
Let me speak to someone fromt the internet team and get back to you.
your Shahry 575 Value Pack will provide you with 2000 call minutes, just use them internationally.
Well the rates per minute mentioned in the tariff are only possible if you use your mobile only for International Calls & that too till the allotted quota of your free minutes. Zero Local Calls....Right QtelComms?

Dear Khurram82,
The one free number is still a local qtel number (landline or mobile), and all you have to do is call 111 and choose your favorite number to call.
Dear 3D,
The last plan is unlimited.
As for your password issue, why don't you PM me rather than discussing it in public.
Warnings:
Data usage is NOT unlimited and costs are NOT a CAP.
Disconnect when not in use. If connected continuously you may exceed your Data Allowance limit resulting in you being charged an additional QR 0.1 for every Mega Byte used above your Data Allowance..
No-one is going to be charged extra if they tip over the 15GB for normal everyday use.

& what about Mozaic TV + internet .. when we ask for router password they don't give it ?? " its clearly violation of our privacy ... if u need to change password of AP( Access Point or Wifi ) u have to call wait for long time then tell ur password to operator ??? what is it ???
Dear Qterl,
what about the one free number...it should be local or international can u explain plz....and how can we choose it.
Dear 3D,
If you are happy with hala, I assure you great promotions and offers very soon.
As for unlimited broadband, well there were many discussions on the topic, and here is a simple explanation of what the term really means:
Unlimited means unlimited for legitimate customers – whether it’s unlimited access to mobile broadband or unlimited calls on the “One Free Number” for Shahry. No-one is going to be charged extra if they tip over the 15GB for normal everyday use. However, if you decide to set-up an illegal spamming service, or use the service to send viruses and Trojans around the world, Qtel obviously needs a policy in place to ensure that it can step in, and protect its customers.
This is where the Fair Usage Policy comes in. It’s not an automatic cut-off. Nor do further / additional charges apply, unless an investigation proves that the service is being used illegitimately.
The Fair usage policy is a international legal standard, designed to protect both operators and users. Excessive and continued use of the service beyond that which, in Qtel’s reasonable discretion, is used for normal consumer Service and which, as a result has the potential to negatively impact the quality of service available to other Qtel subscribers, may result in cancellation of the service. The Fair Usage limit for this plan is set at 15GB of local data consumption.
Hope that helps – happy to answer any further questions.
always healthy for the economy. Products/services improvements in terms of quality and quantity.

Hi danh,
Our offer is available to anyone. Any Hala customer can subscribe to the Shahry Value Pack of his choice and with a valid Qatari ID, job done.
Basic Shahry customers can simply call 111 and choose the Shahry Value Pack they wish.
So, it's available to anyone with a valid Qatari ID.
If you are happy with Hala, no need to worry, there will be great offers for Hala coming soon.
Thanks Scorpio and don’t worry, I am not taking any of this personally, at the end everyone wants a fair deal :D
To explain, with the Shahry 575 Value Pack you get yourself 2,000 free call minutes included, which you can use internationally or locally. This gives you the effective rate of QR 0.29 per minute. In addition to the minutes, you get 200 free SMS, 100 SMS, and 10 Megabytes download as part of the pack.
If you are a Shahry 300 customer, you get 1,000 free call minutes, at the effective rate of QR 0.30 per minute, in addition to the allocated SMS, MMS and Data plans.
Even the most affordable Shahry Value Pack; Shahry 130, will provide you with 300 free minutes you can use to call overseas or locally, at the effective rate of QR 0.43 per minute, in addition to the SMS, MMS, and Data plan.
And I can assure you that there are no hidden fees.
QtelComms, you say "without any initiation fees on your first minute of an international call", what happens after the first minute?
I think it was to India if I'm not mistaken, and yes, only effective (as far as I remember) during off peak hours!
"QR 1/min last year"
To WHICH country ? and those calls wer effective only AFTER 7.00pm/11.00pm, not the whole day !!! u remember ?

Hi, You now have 2 million customers, of these 2 million how many actually can take advantage of this offer? I notice in your company stats you have about 90% on Hala that would mean at least 1.8 million people cannot get this offer? and then there is all the normal Sharhy customers who cannot get it either. why not make it available to everyone?
thanks for claiming who u claim to be.. however pls be advised tht you could face severe criticism. pls do not take them personally as they are not directed at you.
the post also has so many strings and knots (terms and conditions) tht it does seem perhaps u might be who u claim to be..
"up to 2,000 minutes a month to call internationally anywhere, for an effective call rate of 0.29. " - pls clarify as to which plan is benefited and the percentage of customers that might be on this plan..
"There’s no strings, no hidden fees. " probably there might be the really well-hidden strings behind the "no strings, no hidden fees"..
"If anything, our esteemed competitors tried to do what we do every year,.. " really.. wht does qtel expect from its' esteemed competitor - to skip promotion because qtel had a monopoly on this season all this while..
let the best company win..
rms_0000 said "QTel never gave such an offer"
Weren't your rates QR 1/min last year? If you could drop it down today to 0.29 (and still obviously make profit), that's the scale we're talking about here. You've dropped it to this rate only because of competition (fair enough!)
No extra charges, you can use your minutes either internationaly or locally, without any initiation fees on your first minute of an international call.
And those 50 % off where effective ONLY after 11.00 pm or 7.00 pm i guess.
And you guys where sleeping until VF launched to give offers ? pitty !

Yes.. thats what i'm telling.. Q-TEL COPIED VF's offer !
Q-Tel NEVER gave a reduction to international call like this BEFORE !!!!
U itself agreed that "For Example, last year we offered 50% off voice and video calls."
Q-tel gave offers only for local calls. not international. they just COPIED VF's offer.. ADMIT dood !!
Hope, cleared !

Competition is brilliant.. I think I'll just stick to Vodafone, their rates ARE lower than 50dhs a min
0.42dhs/min on flexi 110 all the way till 0.32dhs/min on Flexi 550.
Also remember with those plans you get 110 till 550 free VF to VF minutes. That way I can make my local calls and get cheap intl. calls at the same time.
Another reason, Don't want the headache of Q-Tel's customer service if I have a problem with my account.
Qtel has always been providing offers celebrating Ramadan. For Example, last year we offered 50% off voice and video calls. This year we start with our Shahry International Call offer, with more offers to come for Hala, Shahry and Entertainment clients in the near future.
Just for the Info Mr./Miss QtelComms
Will Q-Tel charge for the standard call (0.35 dhms) on the first minute of a Free International Call? As it's charging normally.

Q-Tel NEVER gave such an offer in ramadan. I mean such a reduction to international calls as long as I can remember..
what we are telling is Q-Tel copied the SAME offer what VF gave ! not about the month !

Hi, I’m from Qtel and I’m happy to answer all your questions and inquiries on this new promotion.
This is a great offer for Shahry Value Pack users – you get more flexibility to call internationally and locally using your bundled minutes. This means you can have up to 2,000 minutes a month to call internationally anywhere, for an effective call rate of 0.29.
There’s no strings, no hidden fees. Once you’ve used 80 percent of your minutes, you get an SMS telling you, and you can either slow down on your calling, or upgrade for free to the next Value Pack.
Basic Shahry clients don't have to worry about a thing, call 111, pick the value pack you want to upgrade to and IT'S TOTALLY FREE, make use of the great prices. If you feel you want to downgrade back to your Basic Shahry plan, call 111 again, job done, no fees. Moving from Standard Shahry to Shahry 130 will cost you QR80 more than before, and you’ll get 300 minutes to use internationally.
It’s totally free to upgrade from Hala to any Shahry Value Pack, but if you’re happy with Hala, don’t worry – there will be more offers in the weeks ahead.
Of course this is for everyone, free migration, no credit cards, no bank account restrictions, pay cash, pay online, pay via phone, pay via credit cards, pay through a machine, it's up to you.
I have to laugh at the idea we’re “copying”. Qtel has offered promotions for Ramadan every year for as long as I can remember. If anything, our esteemed competitors tried to do what we do every year, only – as you can see – not as well.
Enjoy the offer.
400 QAR per month on my Qtel line (cel and landline). So what's the big deal if I go to Voda. Will I cut it into half? I doubt it? Just follow where you are comfortable. I ask my wife to take a Voda for a test! Maybe if she save 50 a month, good for her! What is 50 anyway?
"Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship"
I can only agree that Qtel is not transparent at all. The so called "effective rate" is entirely theoretic. Vodafone showed clearly what the base rate is for everybody (50DHS) - offering international calling to all countries at the price of a local call. If you take out the calculator, you can come up with of effective rates of the Flexi Plans... same deal.
Dear Big Brian, if I was a Vodafone employee I wouldn't have a problem saying so... the effective rate I mentioned is something that was explained to me when I chose to buy a Vodafone SIM card... care to know my home address and my RP number to confirm??? Needless to say this is just rethorical as I wouldn't give you either you just have to take my word just as I must take yours and that you don't work for "The Empire" ;)
I just ask, because you worked out Vodafone's lowest effective rate pretty quickly if you're a customer...
The polite thing to do is identify if you work for a company you're commenting on.
Not sure how one can come to that conclusion after years of bad customer service, over charging in the most abusive way possible and now yet another example of lack of transparency... but ok, we're all entitled to our opinions ;)
Vodafone can EAT Q-tel alive if they want, Q-tel can thank the whole major stake in Vodafone Qatar for not being run out of business.
Come on Qtel u've enjoyed major cake eating all these years, give us something better, rather than copy pasting what Vodaphone offers. This is not only about i can do better what you can do, but should also be about satisfying ALL your customers who use ur service.

So,now Q tel iz da best
Bravo Qtel that's the way to become one of the top twenty operators in the world!
Isn't Vodafone number one?
Qtel acting like a typical copy cats .Just after vodafone putting international call rates same as the local rates qtel is coming with their so called 'wonderful offers'for international calls.dat too they have not made this offers for the Hala users. And for shahary also we can only use it for the free mins and then normal chanrges apply. This is just a typical Monopoly .Vodafone is the best and will be the best.
A Long way to go Vodafone

Q-Tel is still taking advantage of the low literacy rate of the country.....offering such packages coz they know a very few will go on to calculate the actual charges.....such a pitty

still Vodafone better...just think about the freedom of paying and the FLEXibility to transfer from one package to other....i expect vodafone will surprise us
JuSt WaIt
great job qtel!
i've just upgraded from standard shahry to 300 and upgraded my wife to a 300 plan from hala. i thought qtel would sting me for an upgrade charge or something but it's free :-P
i didn't realise we can also get free calls between the numbers. this has to be one of the best deals ever
i don't understand people talking about terms and conditions - there aren't any???
good one.... :P
Qtel and its usual GIMMICKS.... !! They know atleast 90% of their customers don't read the CONDITIONS that come under "*conditions apply" tag..!!!!
All QTel offers turn out to be something like this, ultimately when u calculate the charges in their fine prints, u realize there's little difference with what u already have...!!
I don't trust QTel one bit....!! For the last 3 years these guys haven't been giving Special Rates even for EID, and just coz Vodafone came up with a BANG offer, QTel is trying to play the good guy..!! Its all a rip off..!!!
Not only is Qtel advertising a rate of 29 dirhams for Shahry value pack customers only but they forget to mention all the conditions and limits that they have done such a good job at hiding. Guess what? when you compare apples to apples Vodafone's lowest effective rate is only 32 dirhams a minute... no fine print and no if, but and don't!
Sorry Qtel but I choose honesty over trickery. Nice try, but we are not that stupid.
The offer is valid only for Shary value packs ;not for std Shary (post paid ) or Hala customer.
Good news from QTEL but sad is that is only for valuepacks customers. They should open this for all as Vodafone is doing.
Speed praa jee keep vodafone flag high:)
Damn shut ur mouth Ashwindork...dont go giving Q-tel ideas now..we all know they have their spies in QL...heaven forbid they slash internet rates! Why would i want to pay 100 bucks for crappy slow internet speed when i'm happy paying 300?

hasn't anybody noticed a hint of casteism being followed in their latest strings attached promotion..
Tier 1 - Shahry value pack (Kings)
Tier 2 - Shahry (Princes)
Tier 3 - Hala (Workers)
Tier 4 - New Immigrants
Ofcourse they will make sure that there is something for everybody. Just for now, the Kings are being taken care of. The Princes and Workers have to wait.
As an incentive, the Workers can upgrade themselves to be Kings by bowing their heads in front of the Terms and Conditions.
New immigrants have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join by giving up 9 Manhal water coupons.
Customers can know more about the strings and knots (Terms and Conditions) of this panic-filled promotion by dialling *#06# on their mobile handset.
Agree with Gadarene n Khattak..
Even Smoke n envious Speed here... :)
These are fancy looking numbers with *conditions apply... which means the numbers which are shown here shall not be applicable for all...
Like when the CAr showrooms tell about the milage of the car... they run the car on the smoothest of the surface and at const 60KM/Hr... or so.... without any breaks n stops....
But still everything said n done..
Appreciate the marketing guyz.. they have come up with a plan which grabs attention.. n thts all they seek.
And even if the call rates are less than or equal to 50 Dihrams/Min.. shall be a great news.
Even up to 1 QR/min is quite appealing... as Vodafone's 0.50 QR/min is promotional offer not permanent.

TRICKY.....VERY TRICKY
Read the details of the offer.
0.29 would be the rate ONLY if you use all the free minutes for calling International Numbers....which is not possible unless you use it for making money by selling those free minutes to expatriates (like the VOIP Service Providers).
Q-Tel is BLUFFING people yet AGAIN

well pointed out..
as always, another strings attached promotion from Q-Tel..
How many customers would benefit from this low rate anyway?
finallyy..the customers will enjoi the war.. :)
by the way people, for those that didn't read the small print, the low rate is ONLY applicable on the number of minutes in your valuepack,i.e Shahry 130 offers 300 minutes,so you pay Qr. 0.43 ONLY for those 300 minutes, after that 'regular shahry rates apply'...which is different from Vodafone where the Qr. 0.50 rate has no ceiling on minutes...any comments?...
it is also applicable to HALA prepaid users :(
credits since Vodafone has given me free credits worth 1000 riyals :-)
Thank you VODAFONE.
ahhh yes...slowly but surely,Qatar is entering the real world...
now that is a good news. keep up Qtel.
I hope that there competition goes on for years so that consumers can benefit from Qtel's expensive rates from the past
I have a standard Shahry Post Paid Package....this offer is valid only for Shahry Value Pack.... :(
