Question for Old time Qatar Residents

smoke
By smoke

Lately there has been a song stuck in my head which only a hand full of old time Qatar residents might remember. The song was called "Under the Qatari Sky" it used to show up on some TV commercial back in 1986ish anyone remember? I'm looking for the song anywhere online but cant find it :(

It went something like: Under the Qatari sky..you can watch the people go by blah blah something something" and there were scenes of old fishing boats by the corniche!

If anyone can find the song/video I'll treat them to coffee :P

OK Smoke... after much soul searching I found this... time to hand over the coffee and tequila shots...

Under the Qatari Sky

You can hear the children sing

Jelly Fish in the Sea can make you sting

Sip a hot chai as they watch life go by

Under the Qatari Sky... you will know why...

Under the Qatari Sky

you will see the Sheraton shine

at the Souk you can buy and buy

At QDC you can even get the wine

at the Corniche you can watch life go by

At the desert you can just go stay

There with a 4Wheel you can drive all night

Under the Qatari Sky see the date tree swing...

Under the Qatari sky;

Far, far from the wandering eye;

You can use binoculars to spy;

You can watch the people go by;

Qatar will whisper;

In the wind of the sea;

Here am I, your special land;

Where Smoke plays pool;

Rizks with his Karak Chai Stand;

Come to me, come to me;

Your own special hopes;

Your own special dreams;

Bloom in the desert and shine in the streams;

If you try, you'll find me;

Where the sky meets the sea;

I am Qatar;

Come to me, Come to me;

QTV channel 37 started in early eighties.. I have been here since 1979.. I remember it used to start at 4pm and end at 10pm on weekdays. They used to show Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Knight Rider, Fall Guy, The Jeffersons, Differnet Strokes, Small Wonder and a host of then popular American tv shows..

But I am afraid I don't remember that song you are talking about..

On my way to where the air is sweet.

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street

Come and play, everything's A-OK

Friendly neighbors there that's where we meet

Can you tell me how to get

How to get to Sesame Street

It's a magic carpet ride. Every door will open wide.

To Happy people like you. Happy people who.

What a beautiful sunny day sweepin' the clouds away

On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,

How to get to Sesame street,

How to get to Sesame Street,

How to get to...Sesame !!!!! YEEYYY!

It was a english accent man singing the song. I can only remember bits and pieces of the video like the fishing boats and pearl divers too if i'm not mistaken.
