According from a reliable source, the reason for the traffic chaos was due to a gasoline tanker which fell on its side while turning on a curve. Gasoline was spilled all over the area, thus clean up was done to prevent further injury and damage. It took a while to do the cleaning hence the traffic jam took some time before going back to normal.

when I was waiting for the driver to fetch me to office, I saw this white foam and a lot water (in our area thou') I might have misunderstood what the man was saying to me in arabic but I think it's the municipality that's doing a sort of pest control or something for the drainage otherwise its too dangerous petrol leaking or something.

Was trapped there for more than 30 minutes coming from Midmac flyover to Ramada. Think there was an accident and a fire broke out just after Ramada signal along C-Ring road towards Al Sadd intersection

The bumper to bumper traffic and chaos extended up to the next signal. I was trapped in the middle at Al Andalus signal due to the heavy traffic and the Red light came on. Am praying now that it was not a jumping a red signal violation :-(

yep i was there, stuck around 20 mins or so....at that time this truck carrying a tank of gas was there, i think it hit this other truck causing the gas to somehow spill (the frozen gas forming a foam was all over the street)...not sure though of the exact details but thats how i presumed what happened...
