Ramadan is great, Eid is better

Rip Cord

During this time of year we really get to see the true carnage on the roads of Doha. The dead, the dying and the permamently disabled. (Plus those who drive dangerously, go through red lights and then whine on QL the fine is too big).

As the police and recovery trucks work slow during Ramadan and stop entirely for Eid, you can see all the cars piling up around Doha, in various states of destruction.

For a real treat take the road to Al Khor and see cars and trucks in a real mess.

Nope I dont hate any country but i have reservations with political systems.

Lol it is like you own India. :)

Anyway nothing personal my dear. What makes me think about india more often is 32.7% of the total Indian people fall below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 per day while 68.7% live on less than US$ 2 per day.

As a socio-economic research associate my nationality has nothing to do with my critiques.

You can scroll down and read the critiques http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_in_India

https://portoncv.gov.cv/dhub/porton.por_global.open_file?p_doc_id=1034

or may be you can write wikipedia and other resources "not to talk about Indian Democracy".

Take out India from that world of yours, I say. I reiterate we are sufficient to take care of ourselves. Hope you understand what an uninvited person is considered and how he gets treated.

And we talk about other countries declaring we are Indians not like you, disguised, someone like a back stabber.

LLR...that is great news that you have been blocked and taken off QLIG....rightly done. As the name suggests it is for Indians in Doha on QL. And we have sufficient brains in India and in here to think and do what is good for India...dont need anyone else to put in efforts or poke their nose. So thanks for nothing for your unwanted interest in the affairs of India. Hope you got the message and wouldn't cross the line any more.

LLR I see you are still quoting Hawkins out of context, (actually from his 70th birthday party).. here's his real view

" I don't claim that God doesn't exist. God is the name people give to the reason we are here. But I think that reason is the laws of physics rather than someone with whom one can have a personal relationship. An impersonal God."

I promote good causes from all the countries irrespective of their race and religion.

I joined QLIG to promote donations for Uttarakhand.

In "India vs Egypt" democracy discussion , I mentioned flaws in Indian democracy ( Even in world democracy index , Indian democracy has been listed under flawed democracies). The QLIG Admin thought that I hate Indians so she blocked me from group, she disliked my facebook page. It was sad that after discussing democracy someone acted as dictator. Anyway I found other ways for my outreach and I still consider her a good informative person.

By happygolucky• 22 Jul 2013 11:01

I can understand. I say the same for the Gandhi clan..the secularists.

BTW how could you be in QLIG..it is meant for Indians and your profile says you are from Qatar..a Qatari. Don't tell me you are a wannabe Qatari. And should be removed from QLIG (yeah I know am asking too much from QLIG)

Fathima you are correct, especially for the people who are fasting and have been up all night it is the equivalent of driving around drunk, however no one takes that into consideration and continue to drive like morons.

With short work hours and plenty of time with your family their is no need to rush.

By FathimaH• 22 Jul 2013 10:25
FathimaH

It can be downright frightening driving around these days. Why are so many people in such a hurry?I mean surely wherever they are going and whatever they are looking forward to can't be worth dying and/or killing for? Allahu Must3aan!

As for the people being sleepy that's something natural for anyone who has been up all night(hopefully occupied with their worship and good deeds) and fasting during the day. And whilst the shortened work hours for some is a blessing, sleeping during working hours is wrong, as is not doing the work allocated to you.

lol...politicains use religion to get vote...if people do not give into the politicians how could they get the vote using religion or is it, have the cake and eat it to kinda tactics.

Anyways, let us not drag India here for once as the subject cannot be related to India at all. What I mentioned was about Indians in Doha. Hope there wont be any comprehension issues as always even after making it so clear.

One sad thing is that they really cant differentiate sometimes.. like if you talk about KSA they think that you are talking about Islam. They need to see the documentary "The Dirty Wars" to understand better.

By happygolucky• 22 Jul 2013 09:53
happygolucky

Best thing about the advice to go back home or at times even threatening that you can be send back home this being an Islamic country or something similar for making a POV or an opinion mostly comes from Indians who themselves can be send back home anytime for various other reasons. Any idea why only Indians feel the necessity to say so.

Just an observation based on being 4 plus years on QL and the said threats and the people behind them.

By MarcoNandoz-01• 22 Jul 2013 09:48
MarcoNandoz-01

Getting lazy and not working in Ramadan is a common habit in this part of the world. Shortened or disrupted working schedules, particularly when Ramadan falls in summer. However, in my country, Ramadan or not Ramadan, people will go on about their lives just the same. The night is still night and the day is still day, and working hours are the same.

Could just be what I'm experiencing here, but it seems if you go anywhere during the day (even gov offices, like I said) things are in serious relax mode.

By Mr M.• 22 Jul 2013 09:40
Mr M.

Ryan that's your personal obswrvation but i disagree with you.I know a lot of Government offices where the staff are working just as it wasn't Ramadan, only shorter working hours and i have never seen people sleeping at work during Ramadan.Everything does not 'shut down' as you say but rather work load is a bit slower due to the lesser working hours.

By RyanCanuck• 22 Jul 2013 09:35
RyanCanuck

No, I'm talking about work. Everything shuts down, nobody really does anything (even in gov offices). For example, in my office as I type this most people are in varying levels of consciousness. Some flat out sleeping.

By Mr M.• 22 Jul 2013 09:32

I could never understand why people after work say about 2 PM or 3 PM drive so rash. What are they gonna do after reaching home. They sure cannot eat. May like to rest at best but what is better... to take rest after 5-10 minutes later to get up or be rested permanently or be a cause for someone else be rested permanently.
