Hiiii....I have nilesat dish and humax receiver. Is it possible to get hotbird by changing the direction of the dish. Any advice in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Andrews...depends upon your Receiver...is it a C-Band Receiver or a Ku Band receiver? (newer models are Ku Bands).
KuBands need a small dish while C-Band needs the larger dish as the signals are weak.
Hot Bird broadcasts in KuBand. so if you just connect your receiver & turn the dish (where all the small dishes in Qatar are pointing) then you get the strenght of the signal on your TV screen.
To check if your Receiver is KuBand you could check it at your friends house if he is receiving the signals, just by swaping the receivers.
My guess is yours is a C-Band Receiver for Nilesat. A new Ku Band Receiver cost around QR 200.
Yes You get get Hotbird on the nilesat dish if you point it to the hotbird SAT. You could receive both of them if your dish is big enough. All you need to do is to add a LNB or Camera as it is popularly known here in Qatar.
