Remember Charlie Morecraft?
Had your safety training? So I guess you’ve heard of him already. He set the best example of how are we ignoring safety in our daily living. Short cut makes it easier to do the job but are we aware of the consequences?
I’d like to share one recently sad incident story of one of our colleague here in the company. He was actually blaming himself for the lost of his son.
Enjoying his vacation back to his country, he decided to cook for his family. Rushing into the kitchen, as he turned on the valve of the LPG tank to start, a sudden phone call drew his attention away and went outside to answer the call. Forgetting that he just turned on the valve of the gas without setting a fire in to the burner and been for a while that the gas fumes suspended into the kitchen air surroundings, his son enter the kitchen room and reach for the light switch and all that he heard is the blast of the explosion. It was so fast that the whole area was covered with fire and so as his son. His son made it to the hospital but after a day he passed away. It’s just a good decision he was back on work after the incident otherwise he might do something really bad for himself.
Let’s take SAFETY seriously; it is not only for while inside the work area or in the workplace. It should be part of our daily living activities. Think before doing something, a minute of pause can save us from a very bad situation. Let’s start by orienting members of the family and friends.
WE CAN SAVE LIFE IN OUR OWN LITTLE WAY.
Well hippo, the story of Charlie happened during the 80's. But it serve as the most effective when it comes to safety training programs. He himself has done a thousands of speeches across the world for the consideration of safety awareness.
Questionable or not, there is no bad intention at all.
never heard of him. The story is probably apocryphal.
A sad story. As a parent I can't imagine the anguish and guilt your colleague must feel...TFS though, as it certainly serves as a warning to us all. Yes,as parents and guardians it is our duty to always stay alerted and aware. It takes only seconds for a great tragedy to occur.
Thank you for sharing.. so informative...
well...a minute of pause can save...but i believe in destiny
