Ridiculous vehicle inspection problems?????

Secretagent69
By Secretagent69

Excuse me while I RANT !

I have had a hell of a time with the inspection guys out in Industrial area.
I took my motorcycle out there for inspection and they told me the pipes were too loud and that the back light was not working. Fine. No problem. I changed the pipes to quieter ones (pain in the ass) and the problem with the back light was a simple disconnection problem.

I go back today and now they tell me the back light is not passable because it blinks for a second before going solid red. I tried to explain to them that it is a SAFETY FEATURE!!!! because the momentary blinking draws the attention of the driver behind me. So, I start getting impatient and get into an argument with these wankers and drive off pissed. I had no patience left because it is such a terrible experience driving all the way out to the Industrial area. It will probably never pass now. Im probably blackballed.

They also tried to tell me that it wont pass because the front headlight stays on. That too is a SAFETY FEATURE!!!! You should always have your headlight on even in the day when driving a motorcycle, so you are more visible. That is the way the bike is designed!

Anyways, I feel these guys just try to pick out any little thing that is not really a problem so you fail. They were just looking for anything they could find to fail it. If it isnt one thing it will be another. I think they dont like you to do anything to your vehicle. That is, you cant change anything on it. You have to leave it the way you bought it or they will try to find things to fail you on. I also think these poor inspectors use it as a chance to take out their frustrations on people because of their crap wages and crap working conditions. They love the power trip.

Its so bloody assinine. Anybody with me on this ????!!!!!!

dont blame tnem. they ave been given the rulebook to throw it on the drivers face.

Scartches dont matter, just go to traffic dept and they will just waive it and renew your istimarah.

Go to the inspection site at Wakrah, the guys there are much more relaxed.

if a small scratch will get it failed.... driving to the farm and back and parking at shopping malls means my car has so many scratches on it from the trees on the farm and people with trolleys at the malls...

guess I will be paying out a lot in fines for overdue registration...

"Did you watch the movie?".. how would Pajju say it "Did you watchED the movie?".

They are probably wanting a bribe to pass the job! It would be fun to do an expose this crap, video tape what goes on and then take it to someone who gives a damn. Sorry that will be the hard part, I think Qatar is still trying to act like a village when now it is a city, these old ways don't work anymore.

Indian and Philippinos, they are on a power trip because they are so low down the food chain. When they go home at night I bet there wife’s treat them like hell. Power trippers that’s all. I never let them get to me. Their limited power is only that limited. Mine is for life…

Bikes will have certain accessories fitted with enhanced safety features unless it is modified. Personally I feel that it's their ignorance and uncertainity in approving the vehicle. I agree that passing the test is a full day job, may be it takes a couple of days for minor things.

Deedee ..You should have explained to them? Did you?

SecretAgent, I knew that someone asked you about the nationality and you answered. I was simply putting my comment on it. Recently I have noticed most of the threads are talking about nationalities or someone hijack in-between and diverting the topic...I know it’s not your problem... Never mind :)

. I can understand your frustration as I was also in the similar situation early last month... Just because of that I couldn’t pass my car on time and they were about to charge 1500QR as fine for delay :(...But somehow I got escaped from everything...

What you said is right...Maybe they don’t understand the features of your bike or they simply don’t wanna pass you... I guess you should try to meet some of the traffic police there and explain your situation. They are in the office next to inspection center...They are really nice and kind...And I am sure they will be able to help you...

Good luck again :)

and it was off. We had to drive all the way back home, zip the roof back on and drive all the way back. If a car is manufactured in a certain way, and sold that way, then it should be legal that way as well. Ridiculous.

Youre right Nachu. It doesnt matter what nationality they are. Someone asked me, but I dont care what nationality they are.

I just thought it was funny that a couple of Filippino and Indian guys were failing the bike as "unsafe" considering the safety situation in their own countries. I understand that they are just doing their job.

However, I believe these particular guys are going overboard on the inspections and, for some reason, looking for any stupid reason to fail you. That may or may not be coming from their Qatari boss. I do think they enjoy the power trip.

If they fail me again, I will ask to speak to the boss because it is just totally ridiculous.

Vehicle inspections relate to their porpoer working order and thus safety on the roads,,it has absolutely nothing to do with cosmetics...

Meanwhile, they allow tinted windows which are not allowed anywhere else for a myriad of reasons...

By anonymous• 12 Nov 2009 21:17
anonymous

by the way , why you guys are talking about nationality here ?? you have problem with your car/bike ..so you should fix it as per the country rule .. you just cant compare the Philipines/Indian driving situvations or whether they wear helmet or etc in their country .. they came here to work and they are doing their job .. you should appreciate them than taking out ur anger towards them jus coz you have problem with ur bike ....

even i had small scratch on my car and they refused to pass me. i went n fixed it .. and got it passed ..

anyway ..good luck :)

that the best thing to do is simply to distance yourself from interactions with a lot of folks, and its much, much easier...

That being said, I am putting together a 275 horsepower Defender, that will be a complete rebuild,,,I will then put it in a container and ship it out of here when I go..

What nationality? Indians and Filippinos which is really bloody hilarious considering that fact that in neither of these countries do they even wear helmets when riding a motorcycle. And these guys are trying to tell me Im not riding safe????

Like I said, I think they are taking out their frustrations on other people and/or blindly following/misinterpreting things.

I called a Qatari friend of mine and he had the same problem with a scratch on his Land Cruiser. They tried to tell him that he needed a police report and get it painted. For a small SCRATCH! It was a normal scratch, not the result of an accident.

and they wouldn't pass it becaus ehte lower front spoiler had a few chips in the paint...They are the worst, and frankly, I am renting a car now because the whole scene with owning one yourself is too difficult.

They seem to understand themselves though,,,

pre-historic peoples trying to follow what they see in a movie...
