Right wing firebrands - what the UK needs!
Politics in the UK has become stale. Both Nu labour and the Conservatives have moved away from their roots and now their is not much difference between their politics or ideologies.
What we need is someone like Michele Bachmann, a mother of five, who blasts Obama as a socialist and has campaigned against healthcare reform and the economic stimulus package.
I do not agree with many of her views, but we need someone like her in the UK to wake the people up and get the parties focusing on their core ideals.
Not confusing. The trouble with political parties is that they assume everybody buys into a whole swathe of unrelated policies. The labels themselves make no sense, Thatcher was essentially libertarian Conservative and is called right-wing, Griffin presumably is authoritarian revolutionary and is called right-wing.
http://www.politicalcompass.org/ points out the absurdity of calling both Gandhi and Stalin leftists and has an amusing test to see where you fit in. It's also fun to set yourself a target - Hitler, for example - and see how close you can get to him by lying (hopefully).
I've voted Labour all my life. Whilst not an out and out socialist, I have really become disallusioned with Labour , since B-Liar's second term.
On the other hand, the Conservatives have moved too much to the centre for there to be any real difference in policies.
I want the parties to move back towards their original ideals. That way, voters can get a much better picture of the policies and make a better judgement.
By the way, I am against nationalizing the NHS. I want to do away with community police and put more real bobbies on the beat. I do believe that Labour has created too many quangos and needs to stop favouring the public sector. Having said that, I also want to re-nationalize the utilities.
Quite confusing really :O)
"britexpat said Paul.. ...
Nick Griffin is an out and out racist. I was thinking more like someone slightly right of Thatcher :O)"
That's still Nick Griffin, isn't it?
What is "right" of Thatcher? Scrapping the NHS? Privatising the police force? Abolishing regulatory bodies and quangoes like the CRE? Making the BBC self-funding? What are these "slightly to the right" policies that you expect to ginger-up the old boys' club?
Nick Griffin was on Question Time a few weeks ago - what a prat!
