Robot uprising?
Risk of robot uprising wiping out human race to be studied
Cambridge researchers are to assess whether technology could end up destroying human civilisation.
The Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER) will study dangers posed by biotechnology, artificial life, nanotechnology and climate change.
The scientists said that to dismiss concerns of a potential robot uprising would be "dangerous".
'Reasonable prediction'
But despite being the subject of far-fetched fantasy, researchers said the concept of machines outsmarting us demanded mature attention.

A serious concern???
and many other human manned uprisings, hence why let a bunch of R2D2s scare us now?
wow. sounds like some japanese cartoons i've seen.
It is scary!!!
Next they will study Human Evolution - Focusing on X-MEN.
"How the heck did he fire lightning bolt from his behind?" Cambridge researchers asks.
Robots and nanobots will slowly move towards self thought and self replication. It is a concern :O(
I do not stand on the idea of any religious thinking, and I am not biased based on any preception, but using only my cognition..
"Just imagine the organic process that we are, the pain, I guess the pain is the reason behind love, and the seeking of pleasure, pleasure, physical and more". This makes us organic beings love our life.
If we were just intellectual, and calculative, we wouldn't have a problem dying...
So as long as machines and computers do not taste Pain and Pleasure, I don't think they will ever want to wipe us out....
Cheers!
Robots can only outsmart us if we build them up for that purpose, frankly I don't see why we would?
