Saving humanity from gays is important - Pope

Harry99
By Harry99

Daily Mail..

Saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction, Pope Benedict said today.

"(The Church) should also protect man from the destruction of himself. A sort of ecology of man is needed," the pontiff said in a holiday address to the Curia, the Vatican's central administration.

"The tropical forests do deserve our protection. But man, as a creature, does not deserve any less."

'Ecology of man': Pope Benedict today as he claimed saving humanity from gays is akin to saving the rainforests from destruction

The Catholic Church teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful, homosexual acts are. It opposes gay marriage and, in October, a leading Vatican official called homosexuality "a deviation, an irregularity, a wound".
The Pope said humanity needed to "listen to the language of creation" to understand the intended roles of man and woman.

He compared behaviour beyond traditional heterosexual relations as "a destruction of God's work".

He also defended the Church's right to "speak of human nature as man and woman, and ask that this order of creation be respected".

If having ovarian cancer is normal, then why can't those women get pregnant?

Firstly, you're confusing 'normal' with 'natural'.

A 'normal trait' (such as heterosexuality) is, by defition, something that is common to the majority of people.

A 'natural trait' (such as homosexuality, or, for that matter, ovarian cancer) is something that occurs naturally without external intervention.

Some things are both normal and natural, even if they are considered afflications, like losing your eyesight with age or having grey hair.

Homosexuality is, as has been discussed so very, very often (and yet some people still seem to ignore this fact) natural. It occurs in populations of almost every mammal, as well as other animal groups.

You can consider it a disease or an abnormality or whatever, and I guess you'd be right.

I'm always amused by the argument that being gay is a product of your environment or your upbringing or something. Has no one ever wondered why mothers don't have whole families of gay children? Logically you would expect this to be the case, since each child has been raised in the same environment.

Well, if being homo/Les is as normal as being hetero why can't gays have children? Maybe nature missed something when created Humans?

But i do hope that a lot of men turn gay and all women turn hetero, more women available for me ;)

is an unguided confusion to a growing up child or teen. No one is born homosexual. Its just the environment where the child grows that plays the big part in the development of his/her sexuality. and also for the parents who thinks that sexuality discussion is taboo if the childs starts to ask, then he/she gets the wrong information from wrong individuals.

Religion is the route of all evil....

The Pope says that saving humanity from homosexual or transexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction and then he says he wants an end to 'hatred and violence' in the Middle East.

I think these two points completely contradict each other. Aren't his words about homosexuality full of hatred. I want an end to the hateful and hurtful views of the Vatican.

This is why I don't subscribe to any religion as I think that human beings should be allowed to live in peace regardless of their race, sexuality or gender.

I was born and raised in the Catholic church, but no I no longer subscribe to its teachings.

Ex-expat sexual experimentation in your teen years is perfectly normal, and as long as it's performed safely there's no harm in it. I know many gays and lesbians who "experimented" with heterosexuality (especially lesbians and female sexuality is much more fluid then male). I know 100% gay men who in there young teens had crushe's on girls. With all those hormones flying around during your teen years it's natural to find yourself confused. Teens shouldn't be scared to experiment.

Alexa, I have to disagree. The present day world is full of sexual anomalies which are confusing even to adults.

When I was in my teens, I met quite a few people who were extremely confused about their sexuality.

As a consequence, they engaged in homosexual acts in an attempt to discover the nature of their own sexuality.

If these poor unfortunates were 'born' gay, they would know it instinctively and they would not need to experiment in order to 'discover' their sexuality.

Most of the people I knew who followed this path became even more confused, and to this day many of them do not truly know if they are 'gay','bi' or 'straight'.

I believe this is a social problem and should be seen as such.

Gypsy, as a true Catholic you are expected to follow the guidance of your Pope.

If you are a true Catholic how can you accept homesexuality?

As a true Catholic you are expected to kiss the Pope's ring (interpreted as arse perhaps?), not the other way around.

So you cannot be a true Catholic can you?

By ex-expat• 26 Dec 2008 16:52
ex-expat

I don't think it's a disease as such, it's more of an eccentricity that has been accepted (under the table, so to speak) since time immemorial.

No doubt many people have an inborn tendency to homesexuality, and that's OK as long as they don't make a big issue out of it.

I mean, when was the last time you heard of a 'Glad To Be Hetro' rally?

The danger is that in today's world, 'normal' childen are exposed to all this hype about homesexuality and they may become confused about their own sexuality as a result, particularly if there are problems in their home and family life.

Different direction??? Isn't it the same direction? That's why there's criticism as to its restrictive interpretation. Same thing for the CoE - up in arms over interpretations - not moving with the times, etc. etc.

Actually, I wanted to stick to my mono answer but...my good behaviour doesn't last past 20 secs.. so, I guess what will be will be... I said "no" earlier because gays are human beings too and God is inclusive, not exclusive. Hence, no to "saving humanity from gays".

Having said that, IMHO, homosexuality is not sinful and the gay is not condemned as long as he does not act on his homosexuality, committing homosexual acts, which are "against the order of creation". Fine line.

/I'm no catholic ... and have been branded by a few catholics to be a heathen and on the road to perdition. Yeah.. whatever.

to be fair to this pope, he is already trying to remove gay clergy, so yes he is attempting to get his own house in order even if doing a poor job of it.

As for the person who blamed the greeks for inventing homosexuality, well they certainly practiced it alot but have you never heard of a place called soddom?

the story of this city is mentioned in both the Quran and bible, where the prophet lut (lot in english), upon him be peace was sent to a people who practiced unnatural filth upon each other and after they ignored the warnings given by the prophet lut they were destroyed by the creator for their sins.
