For those not spacially impaired,

If anyone knows where the new Science and Technology Park is located, could they please put it on the map? I will be working there and would like to get an idea of where it is located in relation to the rest of the city. Is it close to the center of things? I would love to ride a bicycle to work :-)

Thanks Qatar06,

a bit more specific that I had needed but I admire the effort. I am not willing to say the company name on an open forum. I can say that it is a major petrochemical company.

Thanks qd06,

I took a quick trip to Doha last weekend and checked it out. It is in the outskirts but the relationship with Education city is fantastic. It is an amazing facility. I will try to find accomodation near at hand.

As for the driving conditions in Doha, I have seen a lot of comments on this subject here. I have to say most of them must be coming from people who have only driven in mall parking lots in Ohio before coming to Doha. By my reconing, the traffic and road conditions are serene, orderly, almost boring. If you want to try real driving challenge, come to Cairo. I have been living and driving here for seven years. The most mild and timid grandmother from Egypt would terrorize Doha traffic.

Let's see, a science and technology center that will attract and support investment worth billions of dollars should wait on making a park were people can play frisbee and take their dogs walking. Think about that one a little bit and get back to me...

I think they are running a huge campaign about the STP now. Its so much construction out at QF so it is only a matter of time before it opens fully. I am excited sbout this addition because I like research environments. Innovation and people coming trying to understand more about this big puzzle make me happy.

Bajesus: Funny no I am not a vampire and actually like onions and garlic. They enhance the flavor of food when used in good proportion. I am Muslim but I think no one should be overwhelmed by anothers garnishes..... I smell it through your pores maybe we all should use it more to stop the blood sucking.

The comments were sarcastic :-). I have been around a lot of people with small viewpoints since I have arrived in Qatar both Expats and Locals. I like too look at things positively as we are supposed to do following our great example PBUH. Even when faced with a system that is not perfect, to try and correct ourselves so that we are not a part of the problem but part of the solution.

I will stop being so sarcastic :-) InshAllah....

Google Earth coordinates of QSTP are:

25°19'31.44"N

51°26'14.55"E

Lots of other info at www.qstp.org.qa

By the way, which company will you be working for?

polymerchemist,

The Science & Technology Park is near Qatar Foundation.

Go to http://www.dohamap.info and find it under the 'Other' node in the tree legend (on the blue page).

Keep in mind that QSTP is still under construction. I work at QF and I assume you'll be working out of QF as well.

Best of luck in Doha. It's a nice city :)

Yes. I am one of the bloodsucking expats. My reasons for working here is not the money though. My wife is from close to here so it was either go broke flying from America or move closer :-) Guess what I chose.

Poly K,

It is located near Education City. It is not close to the center of the city.

You have to be a brave man to ride a bike in Doha. I ride mine early in the morning or very late at night only. I value my life too much :-) I am scared on the roads in a car so I wouldn't even consider onroad bicyling.
