Scorching Summer Heat
Qatar baked yesterday in the scorching summer heat with the officially recorded maximum temperature hitting 48C.
Hot conditions prevailed even early in the day as temperatures hovered around 36.3C at 5.30am.
The hot weather will continue today with the expected maximum temperature again at 48C.
“The situation is nothing unusual, and similar situations were experienced in the country even in the previous years,” a weather official said.
Temperatures could be a little higher in the desert areas and the heat could be more intense in open areas.
Attributing the blistering conditions to the movement of southwesterly winds from the central part of Saudi Arabia, which is the “nucleus” of the Arabian deserts, the Met official said Qatar and Kuwait could experience higher temperatures.
When pointed out that the temperature display in cars showed as high as 50C in Doha yesterday, the official attributed it to the heat radiated from the tarred roads.
When asked if this summer was going to be hotter than in the previous years, the official said it was too early to forecast long-range climatic conditions

I know---even in the shade the water will be HOT!!
It never 'officially' gets higher than 50 degrees in Qatar, because Qatar law states that at 50 degrees or higher, no-one is allowed to work outside at all!

"Every adult of sound mind, should be able to choose to do whatever they want, as long as they cause no harm to others".
Make sure that you add ice to keep the water cool, otherwise the poor old cats are going to get a hot bath instead.

I find relief by staying indoors :-D
Has anyone bought one of those water cooled fans? I've seen them placed outside of restaurants in patios so people can find some relief when dining outdoors.
I've checked Carrefour and no luck there.
Any body?
We're all feeling the heat, and the humidity hasn't even arrived. It only gets worse from here!
My car read 51 Degree when I got in it yesterday, and it was still in the 40's when I went to Souq Waqif for dinner at 8.
It started late this year it seems, but got there on the peak quickly too. Drink lots n lots of water...
