Secondary Glazing
By DutchinDoha1 •
Living in a rented villa comes with some compromises but the one that is most challenging is dust and heat coming straight through existing window frames because of poor fitting and poor quality.
So our thinking is that sliding secondary glazing would be a worthwhile consideration; adding thermal insulation, dust proofing and added security.
The problem is that we have no idea where to find a company that provides this solution?
Anyone has any ideas/contacts?
Folks , Lets be serious on health matters ............
Dutch , if you insulate you that much then your body's resistance to the natural allergies will go down & it may cause health concern, you will start sneezing with slightest of car smoke or fine dust which always there in the gulf ........... anyhow live long & wish you joys ............ .........................
Thank you for the valuable suggestions. You're right we need to make sure we have access to the inside for cleanliness.
MM believes he is amusing, ignore any comments made. I can't help with any local recommendations. In my own 125 year old property in North America, there is a poly film used to block winter drafts. Amazon has one 3M indoor insulator kit. Unfortunately I think that while it would block sand getting into the room it would probably trap it between the window and the film. However, it is quite cheap so maybe an option?

Thanks for the suggestions. All is cleaned daily and curtains sorted frequently. Moving on: I guess no one has any details for secondary glazing...?
The quality of doors and windows is stone-age standards in Qatar. Live with it.
Yeah... Thanks... But that doesn't help at all. That would just leave me with dusty curtains...?
Also if anyone has suggestions how to make similar improvements to external wooden doors I'm all ears
