Secular India and Hard Line Hindu Nationalist Govt.

India is a secular country by constitution but Hindu in reality. With the new hard lining Hindu Nationalist Government, Indian Constitution perhaps would be amended by making Hinduism the Country's official religion. Would that a change be beneficial for India?

"Narendra Modi's victory in the Lok Sabha polls has amply proved that Indian Muslims were and are secular,".I am from a minority religion. I have been a big supporter of Modi like many of my other friends who were also supporting him. We are all very sure that he will be working hard for the country and not for his religion. It is the media who gives him the colour of a hindu extremist.India's elections are transparent. The author of the post simply wants to add fuel to those confused idle minds.People like you are the reason we have middle finger.

India is inhabited by agriculture people who founded their religion and rituals on their surrounding and fruits, vegetables, animals and the rivers. That kind of localized religion has no universal appeal and on top of it, it is divided its own people into lower and higher grade people which is contrary to any religion of the world. Imagine the Hindus were forbidden by religion to travel by sea, so that the lower grade people should not escape away from their own oppression which is continuing even today.

Hindu India is better than Secular India? The only Hindu country in the world, at present is Nepal.

How stupid are you? First of all, "Secular" was added in the constitution during emergency under Indira, its not been there since 47 yet India has been great for minorities when compared to Pakistan and Bangladesh where minorities have disappeared since independence... Secondly, Modi isn't the monster he is made out to be.. He treats everyone equally and that pisses off some people who expect special treatment.

What is wrong in it? Let India be a Hindu country. Hindu country or Muslim country or Christian country it makes no difference as long as they (governments) are good to their people.

Possibly techn is unaware that when this party was in power the last time, a war would have been imposed on one of India's neighboring country. However, it was the very wise and timely decision of Nawaz Sharif at that time though he was under considerable pressure from world powers, to go ahead and explode the nuclear device. The explosions shook the bells in the dhotis and took the steam out of the nefarious plans. I agree that religion and politics should not be mixed, but then this is just philosophical thinking.

The same party was in power a few years back. there was not trouble then. Indian constitution has been written such a way that it will be very difficult to make it non-secular. Being secular is good for all countries, not only for India. In my opinion, religion and politics should not be mixed.

hope they will not do that. India should remain secular.
