Sensitive teachers
Have you ever experienced school teachers being unnecessarily sensitive about trivial issues and creating a ruckus ?
My children had quite a few experiences in their school , which I would like to share.
1. Recently my elder daughter was standing near the school washroom and chatting with her friend , when a teacher passed by . The two children were so intent on their conversation that they failed to see the teacher and wish her .
In class, the teacher admonished my daughter and said " Just because you got full marks in my subject, don't think you are greater than the teachers. Why can't you wish your teachers ?Don't you have any humility ?
Imagine what the child who was quite unaware of the fact that the teacher had passed by would have felt.
2. Another teacher sent my same daughter out of the class for giving her notebook to a classmate of hers to copy notes.
3. A teacher accused my younger one of copying when he caught her making actions in the class to one of her classmates. This when this child is only in the 3rd grade.
i feel that teachers should give the children an opportunity to explain their stand rather than accusing them and demoralising them.
Sometimes, the teachers themselves are guilty of the same .Often the teachers do not wish the children who wish them good morning or good day.
Why can't teachers treat their wards like human beings with feelings just like themselves ?
What school is this?
I agree with Afaque
Tell your daughter I did no1 a while back and someone got angry with me!
Many years ago I had two people turn up bleary eyed and late for a Saturday catch up class.... (Disco night I thought) and said nothing.
At the end of the class I asked them why they were late.....
tears and tears.... their friend had died in a car accident the previous evening and they had been up all night.
So sad but I learnt always to ask never assume!
Some of the teachers get paid rubbish money to do a huge amount of work...very stressful.
Some teachers have poor either classroom management skills or poor self-esteem (or both!) Maybe the teacher needs to develop her skills. She could this by taking a teacher refresher course or by reflecting on her classroom behaviour and choices.
Seeing as though the teachers in question will probably never read this post, let's address what the parents can do. They can document their kids thoughts and talk to the teacher in question.
My neighbours girls always complain of the same things at school, being reprimanded for things without being given the opportunity to explain. They hate their school here...
Although i agree with you jasmine, teachers are human, but they are older and wiser than children and should be an example to the kids....
I agree that sometimes teachers forget why they are teachers. But sometimes they are just busy or stressed about something else. Kids need to remember that teachers are human and teachers need to remember that kids have feelings!
thats because lot of teachers in schools donot have proper teacher's training.
