I've seriously tried sheesha last Thursday with my roommates and bf, after few minutes, I felt drowsy, sleepy and weak. My bf told me this is what a beginner usual felt, but bec of that effect - I would think twice if there will be second attempt... so if this has more negative health impacts then I better make up my mind not to do it again heheheh...

Al liwan suites roof top cafe, serves good sheesha.

The best sheeshas ever is in Puerto Banus (Marbella , Spain). Grape juice & Sprite are used instead of water to filter the sheesha

My mother was a chain smoker - but did not die from smoking rathere

a stroke, but to be honest I took her all over Germany on holiday once and none of my friends ever smoked - she used to light up one after the other - and no asking her not to smoke helped she just went off in the huff.

My father in law never smoke in the house ... he smoke near the kitchen window. He is 74 this year (so useless telling him smoking kills) ... and been smoking since teenager. The price of ciggies here in the UK ... i was thinking that he could afford to buy a mansion / posh car if he dont smoke. lol.

By bajesus• 27 Dec 2007 13:50

Then you should stop being a bad influence and not smoke it with me!! :P besides, it'll be harder to quit now that I know it helps get rid of balckheads!!! ;)

Of course not they will have to tax something else in this case if they ban it altogether.

However, I did watch a report of German TV about pubs there who have lost many guests because they can't smoke there anymore.

I worked with a chain smoker for over five years and believe me when I came out of the office at night it was a treat. I have never smoked in my life either.

article cos someone asked if sheesha is more harmful than fags...This article proves it to me !

I know how much the UK government makes a year on tax for fags, you are right, they will never totally ban it ! I seem to think its about 35 million a year, not a bad little earner for those muppets eh ?

If some one wants to kill himself no one can save him. But your hazardous habit should not harm others.

Now what kind of brotherly attitude are you presenting here on QL lol.

As long as people are making money on this business it will go on and on as it has done for how many hundreds of years.

If people don't want to be saved from harm they will not let it happen.

as you said they can kill themself ... but it is so ignorant when you sitting in non-smoking area (suppose to be), and table next to you start smoking.

mr.paul ... you can push and make any law about smoking. If you never enforce it is useless. Just go to the malls in Qatar and you will see people smoking under no smoking sign.

It is heaven here now in the UK ... i used to refuse going to a pub because i hate smokey place. But now everywhere indoor in the UK are smokes free :D

ANTI-SMOKING activists plan to push for a ban on sheesha in Ramadan tents, citing growing practices of associating the habit with the holy month.

"Ramadan tents are filled every night with people who smoke sheesha for hours, without realising its harmful effects," says the Bahrain Anti-Smoking Society.

"We have been working with the Health Ministry to curb all types of smoking and have been successful in banning it in public places such as shopping malls," said society secretary-general Dr Maha Al Mooqla.

"However, the law to ban smoking is yet to cover other important places, such as Ramadan tents.

"Associating sheesha with Ramadan is not logical and has nothing to do with our traditions.

"In fact, sheesha and cigarette smoking have the worst effect on individuals' health during Ramadan, as they directly hit fasting body.

"Sheesha in particular, is more dangerous, as one hour of smoking it is equivalent to that of 200 cigarettes."

"Smoking sheesha with the use of the aluminium foil, which is usually of poor quality, also reacts with the burning charcoal and produces aluminium fumes that are carcinogenic or can cause cancer.

"Moreover, sheesha smokers should be aware that when smoke goes through water, its humidity increases and it tends to stay longer in the lungs."

Dr Al Mooqla said that smokers should take the opportunity of fasting to stop "the destructive habit".

"If they can stop smoking for a whole day, they can continue that during night also," she said.

"Of course there will be withdrawal symptoms, but it's not impossible to get over them." "Getting over this addiction needs will power and can be achieved by several therapies such as relaxation therapy, hypnotherapy and acupuncture among others.
