Shipping a Vehicle from Overseas
A coworker told us it's relatively inexpensive to ship a vehicle here from the States or Europe. As great as that sounds, I'm sure it can't be that simple. Has anyone on QL done this, and was it easy or was it a hassle? I have to believe there are pitfalls to getting it released from Customs, and once it is released, getting it registered through the equivalent of the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). Any insight anyone can pass on this topic would be much appreciated! I'm getting sick of paying way too much every month on renting a vehicle!
You can import a car from EU&USA or any where else..
The rule stipulates at least 5 years old cars can be imported.
But temp import is not possible and you have to pay duty and make permanent import as there is agent for the car in local market.
Also you have to get the traffic paper (export from the country which is coming) for clearance and customs will inspect basis that and finally issue vehicle clearance certificate to register with traffic dept in qatar.

good day
One thing to take into consideration is climate. When cars are sold here they are sold as "Gulf Spec". That means that the airconditioners are much more powerful to deal with the summer.
Make sure that your AC can handle the heat if you ship in from outside..

One thing is for sure, forget getting one from Europe, cars are more expensive there. My dad has shipped quite a few cars around, so I'll ask him next time I speak to him.
