My friend(he is in dubai right now) had attended an interview of Qatar Islamic bank. After that they told him “we will send u offer latter later” .after some days he got offer latter .but which was not in his name the first and last name is different from his actual name. He had sent email them about this problem .they replied “you just accept this, later in contract we will change that name “.he said No but they haven’t been responded yet. My question is “should he accept that offer with that name? “.is there any problem if he accept it with that name?. Please help him

Agreed on nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes BUT when it's pointed put to you that you have made a basic error you SHOULD correct it.

stop this nonsense .... that problem has solved .they have sent a new offer letter.... dont take this as a chance to abuse or criticize some body or some reputed organization if u don’t like that one. Nobody is perfect and nobody can ideal except almighty …..

It is unprofessional. To get it wrong and have this pointed out and then refuse to send a revised offer is quite unbelievable.

Saeedkhan this has nothing to do with being Islamic. Just because you have Islamic in the title does not mean you are infalliable and will not screw customers and employees....

You're in Qatar, expect amazing.

But one sure good thing about people here; they are not liers or scammers. Go for it, otherwise, don't expect them to chase you. "There are many on the waiting List" is the main attitude here.

saeed.. try to get it amended FIRST before signing. that was my point *sigh*

in the first place, they shouldn't send out ANY official documents without proofreading/checking it first.

Surely not because of a typo, Tipu.

Let me say it again: it is TYPICALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Typically for Qatar!

As you mentioned both of your first and last name are different from your real name. So this means, it's not just a minor mistake.

For me, NO. They should send you the offer letter with your passport name as this will be your only proof in the future when it comes to your salary. A friend of mine, signed an offer letter but when she arrived in Qatar she was asked to sign a contract with lower salary package as compared to the offer letter. So she fought it.So offer letter is a big deal.

I will take an account with this bank. Maybe they mistype my account number one day and I find 10 million Riyals in it.

Sorry but you are talking out of your posterior calling it a typing error.

It is unprofessional if you cannot even write the correct name!

(Maybe for you it is okay, but then you are unprofessional, too).

why its unprofessional? lol.

uhm .. lets see..

first, they wrote the wrong name in the offer

when he noticed this, the reply was:

“you just accept this, later in contract we will change that name“

it wouldnt hurt if they actually checked WHO they are actually offering the the job to.

OP: please tell your friend to never sign something he is not sure of, that goes out for anyone :)

I would say that sending an offer letter showing an incorrect name is unprofessional. To then ask the recipient to "sign the offer anyway" and offer to sort it out later makes it doubly unprofessional

From what the OP says QIB is unprofessional. Do not consider the offer.

Your friend should not accept that. If the company cannot give him the offer letter under his name, how do you expect the company to treat him right. From the very beginning he is asked to accept a mistake, he shoud expect more mistakes to come then.

Would you want to work for such a professional company that cannot get the basics right?

By Silent• 15 Feb 2011 12:12

QIB is a reputed bank, If a person from a responsible position has said so.. I feel there is no problem in accepting it.
