Smart Phones v/s Cameras
Smartphones are becoming the mainstream cameras of choice. Most of the camera developers should be worried about their product landing in the junk drawers with their old mates as smart phones catch up with new features.
For professional photographers, a DSLR will always remain the first choice as the quality of pictures taken by a DSLR will always be far more superior to a smart phone. But for everyone else, the convenience of a smart phone is fast overtaking the quality of a good old point-and-shoot camera.
Which device do you use the most to click photographs?
Interestingly smart phones have incited interest in amateur photography.
Convenience matters... some pictures I have taken with my now old Nokia N95 8GB Phone are better than my Nikon D90... I use the Nikon only for Birthdays & Weddings even then there are times I had to reach for my old warhorse N95.
Even today of all the smartphones, only a handfull - Nokia N8, Nokia N9, Samsung II & Samsung III are better than Nokia N95.
With the DSLR I use auto mode only & thus I have to discard about 10% of the shots from my DSLR, while with my N95 I have to discard less than 1%.
I never said I was a great photographer!
ive been reading articles on line about this and its interesting. Of course if your an avid and keen photographer there is no way your going to put your professional camera away. Just think though a smart phone is with you all the time and for quick snaps, some fun, some accidental its brilliant. The apps that around these days are fantastic and it gives the novices like myself a sense of gratification, when i see the results of adding filters to picture. The smart phone is exactly that and no-one is saying they are supposed to be better as camera's it just so happens that the makers of these phones are trying to out do each other by making top features. Dont forget samsung make cameras but they also produce smart phones. Sony make cam corders and cameras yet they produce phones with cameras on. I for one have a iPhone 4s and in my wonderment it is a fantastic piece of hardware!
I am not a pro photographer but I usually use my Canon 1000D ....
There is no comparison in results of even this novice SLR vs any smartphone.
of course my Nikon 90D ,,,
