Snow.

A belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all the Qlers who may remember me,it has been some time since I have participated on Q.L.
I am in the UK at the moment, Edinburgh to be exact. It has been 15 years since I last set foot on my native soil and here I am in the middle of a mini ice age.
My question is this.
Does anybody miss the snow and the cold.? I never thought I did untill I came back.
Why.?
Being eager to get home out of the cold and that hot burny feeling on your face the minute you walk in the door.
Fresh snow crunching under my feet,,,,Ive actually made a point of digging the heels of my boots into it as I walk just to hear it.
I even walked to the canal to see it when I heard it was frozen over (I also wanted to check up on th swans and ducks Ive been feeding recently).
Spending lovely cozey nights at home sipping a warm glass of red,not to mention the food I have consumed over the festive season.
Theres so much more ,I never thought I had missed , but here I am and loving it.
Does anybody else miss the winter .

I lived most of my time on the edge of the desert and worked there as well ,I came to love it . People said there were no seasons there,if you go to the desert daily you see it change. I saw the grasses grow, the fox cubs playing and so many thing , it was like a substitute for me ,,,being a bit of a country lad.

But it is nothing like this and the hardy folk who live with a different kind of hardship.

Thanks for your comment bametrix.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to you too! I'm back in the UK too, when I first arrived home I appreciated everything including the weather, but now I've had enough and can't wait to go back to Doha and have been counting down the days. I'm sure I'll miss the cold weather again after being back for a few weeks though.

The winter season just felt a bit empty without snow, I don't think I could handle being away from Colorado for 15 years,ha ha man I've been here six months and I miss it.

I miss winter back in Colorado really bad! Skiing and snowball fights, and the feeling your hands get when you run them under the water after shoveling snow, this is my 1st winter out of Colorado.

Thankyou for your reply , most appreciated.

To be honest my elder brother was very reluctant to go out and build a snowman last wek , but ofcourse he capitulated eventually. Then we did something I believe is not PC nowadays,,,,we had a snowball fight ,,,,with our 86 year old mother as well, the local children were appalled.

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to ya too. Keith I hope you are making the most of snow. I have not seen snow for years now. One it does not snow much in the south of the Uk where I come from and secondly I have not been back in the winter in the UK for a while now..
