Sometimes I wish I was just a driver in Qatar

A hired company or local driver, that is.

I mean look at the luxuries you can get. For local drivers, you just wake up early, bring the kids to the school in the morning and back, bring the sponsor or the wife to some neighbor or mall, and after that nothing else. For company drivers, you get to bring the employees back and forth to their destination at a certain amount of time alloted in-between.

When not 'at work', you get to 'stroll around' the company/owner's car to some of your friends and chat fer hours, pick up some people who can't find a taxi or service and being paid a sum amount, additional income per se.

Plus you get your own free food, gas sponsored by the owner/company, your own bedspace accomodation, a little extra 'benefit' if the owner/suitor likes you, and of course, your salary.

I'm guessing they earn more than me. Better change my job occupation now and get the luxurious benefits of being a hired local driver!

I have two drivers who start work at 5.30 am - they don't have an easy life. They are out dropping off workers at all times of the day and night and often a 5pm are dead tired and sometimes have not had time to eat lunch properly because they arrived late at their destinations. Never have I heard a word of complaint from them. All of the things you mentioned the drivers mostly pay for themselves and there are 15 of them living cooking and surviving in their accommodation 6 people to a room.

They can't stroll around in the car because they have to keep a log book with the start and finish of the day kilometres.

I wonder where you take your information from!!!!

Drivers....

A House driver has to get up early in the morning and wash 3 to 4 cars of his sponsor. That itself could take 1 hour. Then he has to drop off people to work & school.

Then come back & take the Mrs to Shopping. He will have to wait there until the shopping finishes....maybe 3 hours.

By the time he drops her home its time to bring the kids from school.

Then he has to get his sponsor home for the afternoon break.

Then take him back for the Afternoon session.

Take the maid out to do her grocery shopping for the house.

Take the family out.....mostly be back home at around 12in the night.

The only perk he has is he gets to flirt with the couple of maids that his sponsor employs.

**********************************

Company driver is better off than the House Driver

Company driver has to pick up and drop off the company people, do the work of the messenger, run errands.

Has to be at the call 24hrs/day 365 days a year.

Company Driver's perk is he could earn by picking up & dropping off random people. This is only possible for cars without the Company Logo on the Car.

did u ever meet any of these guys in person n talk to em? try 4 atleast once..!

some perks i ve heard of for this kinda job: no weekend off, or any holidays! salary less than 600 Riyal per month, on that deduction of 400 riyal per month for initial payment of driving license and for any kinda expenses the sponsor had incurred to bring you here, no leave salary, no tickets, 24hours on call duty, no overtime, stay out side the car and wait while youngest son of sponsor having his enjoyment with his gf in the car etc.
