Tips to survive the Doha heat
Summer is coming, well, it is already upon us . Anyone who has spent some time outdoors during daytime knows how quickly Doha heat can take its toll on them.
It is easy to be fooled into thinking we can remain safe under the scorching sun as its effects often appear a few hours later. The discomfort felt in our bodies is a signal to find relief.
Prevention is better than cure, so here are some tips to help you cool folks get even cooler during summer.
Water: Indulge yourself in the intake of as much water as you can. There are ways to make your chilled drink interesting. Add some mint leaves or ice cubes made of mint leaves in water or even frozen fruit pulp.
Take a refreshing bath daily, preferably before going outside. That way the body temperature stays cooler for a longer time.
Shade: Use an umbrella or hat outside even if you are going to be out for a few minutes. It’s time to keep your shades and sunscreen handy with you at all times you intend to brave the heat.
Clothing: Make sure you avoid wearing dark colors if you intend to be outdoors for several hours. Darker colors absorb more heat. Summer colors in pastels or whites look good and keep you cool, literally.
Stay indoors: This is an easy one. Unless it is absolutely necessary, try to stay indoors for most of the day. While coming and going to your cars, make sure you drink water right after sun exposure. Arrange your outdoor activities after it starts getting relatively cooler just before sunset.
Most importantly, take a deep breath and think cool thoughts.
"Take a refreshing bath daily." How can I do it when the water coming out of the "cold" tap has a temperature of about 40 degrees Celsius??
WT: This is a good suggestion.. However, if you stay in bed with your beloved, then you can also stay fit to boot!
Stay in bed.
