Stenden should be stranded

Dear Qlers,

I would like to bring your attention about this University Stenden Qatar. Please if you are planning to consider your grown up children for higher education, have more choices and do a thorough checking when it comes to higher education. Do not be in a hurry to put them in a university like Stenden Qatar. It is not Stenden, it should be a Stranded University.

This is going to be your son or daughter's foundation for a bright career ahead.

Generally I am not in favor of talking negative about a noble profession called education, but when institutions imparting education does not care, then it is my duty to share the experience.

This university has the most unprofessional, irresponsible, arrogant staff I have ever seen in this universe.

they shamelessly charge a huge amount per annum which may take a 12 month salary of a medium waged expat, but when you want to ask a question through email or try to reach a person over phone who is responsible for certain assigned tasks, they never come on the line.

For a very petty issue, I have been chasing this institute for the past two months, till now they have not responded to me. I do have the contact number of even the President who is Wayne Johnson, I thought of bringing this to his attention then changed my mind, it is not possible for a staff working under him can act so arrogant and irresponsible without his support.

Forget about their individual department functioning, if you call their number somebody will pick up the phone, you will ask for the person, she will get your name and try to transfer and just after one second, operator will come back on the line, she is not answering the phone, or she is not on her seat. This answer will be throughout from 8 AM to 4 PM which is their supposed to be normal working hours.

They do not provide any information over phone, they dont answer any emails, they dont respond,

Dear Qler friends, is it really worth to study in a university, which does not have a decency to have even a basic manners and courtesy in communication?

Think about it and make a wise decision as this is your child's life time career.

regards

I have to disagree with you on this. I actually graduated from Stenden Qatar and it was a positive experience for me. True they have their shortcomings, but I would still recommend this university to anyone interested in business management and/or tourism/hospitality. I now work in Peru in the tourism field, and I'm very satisfied with what I have learned at Stenden.

The problems you describe can be found in the majority of organizations in Qatar. It certainly doesn't serve to their credit, but I don't see how Stenden is unique in that regard. Try getting off the phone and going there in person... from my experience, that's the only way to get things done in Qatar.

@ adworld,"welcome to Qatar"...before levelling this allegation, you ought to have personally experienced this @ their main campus in the Netherlands, otherwise, don't blame the university.

The staff, especially the administration,is recruited locally, this experience you had is a reflection of the available human resources in this country...mediocre @ best...questioning a university's educational credentials based on bad administrative staff on a foreign campus seems a bit unfair mate...your issue is actually with the bad administrative staff & a complete lack of customer services that one would consider basic anywhere else in the world & in that respect, the MAJORITY of organizations in this town would come under the same category, sure things are changing but there is still a LOOOONG way to go,but we live in hope eh?!...So please be specific if your complaint is with the academic credentials of the institute itself or their poor admin. staff & resultant poor customer service, something all us Qatar residents have gotten used to...
