Talk about sour grapes
I dont know how the other unlucky bid nations for 18 and 22 are responding but I have to say the reaction of the English bid team, media and country as a whole is absolutely appalling!! The arrogance of the English bid - exemplified by Gary Linekar "We deserve it..." - they are blaming everyone - FIFA, the media, the weather, money.... its just SO embarrassing. For a glimpse of how to lose BADLY, take a look at www.sky.com and go to "news" - just read the comments under the appropriate news headline - its actually comical!!! I think the reality is dawning that they have NO friends in World football.......
Qharis
One more "LOL" for U.
and don't prove urself a certified loser, get a life in real, and forget about 2018 & 2022, move ahead.
nothing will turn up. It will not be in any bidders interest to dish out the dirt....
what investigative juornalism will find out over the course of time.
Stayed tuned...
I think the perceived "sour grapes" from the losing countries is aimed for at FIFA than at Qatar & Russia. I think after this voting FIFA needs to make some steps to be more accountable and transparent in their voting, or change the system slightly. I'm not saying Qatar&Russina don't deserve the Cup, I'm just saying that this vote has raised a lot of concerns.
too much free time
Power of Gas and Oil?
Blimey, the World Cup does seem to bring out the Keyboard Warrior in some people!!! Hopefully normal QL service will be resumed at some point in the VERY near future!!
Yeah arien, it seems so..
The day the result from FIFA has got announced for 2018 & 2022, i've seen numerous such posts on QL where few are just bashing each other for a minute reason..
Hope they realize it soon so that we could have peaceful conversation on QL again..:)
Soniya - It takes time ;)
For how many times the topic on SOUR GRAPES would appear on QL and for how long the people would bash each other??
Chillax guys...
The results are already announced..We all know the facts so why fighting with each other here..
As a resident of QATAR, let's support this small country who has won the bid for hosting a MEGA EVENT...
exex - white need to be the skin colour itself. Its a general usage for westerners....
You are a disgusting racist.
Anything you say has that undertone of a bigot I'm afraid.
Nice to see your true colours when you cannot have a discussion; racist jibes.
Loser.
In life, not this thread.
xxxpat ----- Personal attack
Qharis ----- one more "LOL" for U.
You racist piece of sh*t, you judge someone on skin colour? You are everything that is wrong with the world, you are scum.
And what's with your racist jibes against white people all the time?
Qharis
U are proving that my Late Grand Father was wrong in his view for white company.
I wish, if he would have longer life and i could show him ur post.........lol
Qhris -you should change yourself or your base to be happy and healthy :) lots of hatred is lots of preassure which results in wrong hormones u knw ;)
This is what I love about losers like you on the internet; you are incapable of discussion and hide behind a monitor.
Someone asks you a question, in real life you would meet it with silence, and not know what to say.
On here you can type a smart alec 'lol' and be a QL hero.
Pathetic really.
a LOL is more than enough for ur post :P
Qatar is feeding me for free is it?
I don't get up and go to work every day to earn the money and food? They hand it out to me like a refugee that should be grateful for every act of charity?
Get real.
If I didn't work, this country would give me nothing. I see you are a doormat who people can wipe their feet on. Maybe when those people are giving free food samples at Carrefour, you get on your knees and kiss their shoes because they fed you right? Hahahaha...
OK, I think we have to disagree. You have a tainted view based on media reports (which as past experience shows, aren't always the full story. I don't, END OF.
"As for the corruption claims, you obviously weren't aware of the investigation into colluding between Qatar and the other competing nations. It was all over the media, but I guess it passed you by."
Never proven, pure speculation again motivated by an insecure English press determined to sully the opposition ... also as I am aware, the alleged collusion involved one and only one, other bid - that of Spain and Portugal - as I am aware, Russia and NOT Spain and Portugal were awarded 2018. I think that perhaps you, not unlike the rest of the Uk authorities and media cant see the wood for the trees and are desperate to direct blame for lack of success at anything that may have a degree of plausibility - even the Holland/Belgium bid which was advocating a free bike for each fan had a better showing than the England!! I dont see the Spain/Portugal bid team or media throwing their toys out of the pram or their Head of Football Association resigning and yet arguably they had just as good a bid as that put foward by Ebgland. Face facts, you were in a group of really strong European bid nations and the country has been humiliated - difficult to swallow know but there it is!!

England have got full right to be aggrieved. Their bid was termed perfect in every way and yet they lost.
Don't name call, it just makes you look childish.
1. The weather. A force of nature, people who complain about it just like to moan full stop, so I can't argue that point.
2. Find me a country on earth where the citizens DON'T complain about the government?
3. The special relationship. So British people complain about their own government kowtowing to the Americans. And what is wrong with that? Our government should put its own people and interests first, above those of another country. Especially when that relationship seems to be so one sided in the other country's favour.
4. Unemployment. So, the British taxpayer suffers at the hands of inept bankers and the failed system, thousands of people made unemployed through no fault of their own. And you think that is just moaning. People have a right to feel aggrieved, especially when it directly affects them. Look at Ireland at the moment, the ridiculous politicians trying to maintain the status quo and not accept that the country is broken and severely in debt. Normal people are very angry and want to be heard. Is that not their right?
5. Media. They are a joke, the Panorama programme should never have aired when it did, but its not the first time, and it won't be the last time it happens.
I don't think the above is a jaundiced view, but people having legitimate concerns about how certain aspects of their lives are impacted. If you choose to believe this is sour grapes, go right ahead. I prefer to read about various subjects rather than make judgements based on a limited opinion.
As for the corruption claims, you obviously weren't aware of the investigation into colluding between Qatar and the other competing nations. It was all over the media, but I guess it passed you by.
supp LP.... ya supposed to be answering? ma question.. at least nw.
.
Lincoln Pirate I fully concur with your statement.
McD3000 - I think you need to lose the pseudo american text. You sound like a teenage boy.
Reasonable discussion no longer has any place on this site.
They are not just sour graping. They have eaten too much bitter gourd. Bitterness could kill! So get a life to all haters. Qatar really deserves the bid!
Bribery, corruption, and diplomacy (also called 'lying') have always been means of successful business and politics. Caesar bought the senators to be elected as consul and when he couldn't pay them back, he invaded Rome with his army. So, it is absolutely nothing new. One should be angry at the corrupt world as a whole, not at some clever guys who Qatar used to 'win' a trophy.
LMAO " Alancarr - yeah, actually i DO want to view it as sour grapes - lots of people in England are angry about lots of things - the weather, the government, the special relationship, the unemployment, the media - you name it, the English seem to have a jaundice view of it!!!
"...that a corrupt bid and backhanders won the bid for Qatar...." - you have of course a plethora of genuine evidence to support that conjecture presumably?? Hmmm presumably NOT.
You are indeed special my friend, with the special needs that only your Mum will appreciate!! Prat!
Pathetic post by the OP. FIFA stated that England had the most complete bid, the infrastructure and services to pull it off, the last 30 minute presentation was by the best (comment from Sepp Blatter himself), so you tell me why Brits should not feel aggrieved after losing when the top officials even said we had the strongest bid.
Maybe you want to view it as sour grapes, but a lot of people are angry that a corrupt bid and backhanders won the bid for Qatar, and they have every right to feel that way.
Personally, I'm disappointed, but I'll look forward to 2022 and Qatar being as good as Zaire in 1974.
Bye bye....
IS this what Qataris said when they lost out on the Olympics last time round. Get a life guys....
Qharis
now this has become reality that Qatar will host WC2022, and they had knocked out rest of the participants, so better to stop whining and show some respect to the hosting country.
Isn't it so bad to badmouth those who are feeding U?.......lol
the Brits, Aussies, or anyone else. It is a huge disappointment to lose to a nation that had the ONLY proposal that FIFA itself said was a handicap. Factor in FIFA's well known corruption and you can be sure there are a lot of unhappy campers who feel they were cheated.
Agreed
If Qatar had lost the bid it wouldn't have been the innocent 'we deserved it', it would have been a scary rhetoric of 'THE WORLD HATES ISLAM', 'people are afraid of the Middle East' etc etc.
Not anguish, but psychological bullying of the world, calling them Islamaphobic and closed minded.
Sean-C--Exactly. The world is full of sore losers.
If Qatar had lost the bid, I can only imagine how QL would be flooded with 'appalling' reactions!
Oh and since the US was bidding, should they have won, there would be a conspiracy theory that involved them and their fight against terrorism and radical Islam.
