I am new to Qatar, this is an incident which happened to me, Day before yday i took a taxi from a location to my house, it took 12QR bill, but yesterday when i took another taxi from same place to my home (through same route) reading shown about 16.5 QR bill (he did'nt gave me the bill, when enquired, he said its not running correctly, and sped fast.), In india, its common in Auto-drivers, their meter runs faster than auto, is this common on taxis?

Hi Guys,

I got answer of taxi rates,

Check the meter when you take the taxi (Right top of meter),

I / 1 = Inside City.

0 = Outside City .. (Double rate),

Some choose 0, when its inside city.

So check the meter, while you hire a taxi, some changes while running too. I got a Philippines guy doing like this.

Also for me, same distance(or 12 QR regular) came for 20QR (meter shown I/1), and i don't have answer for this.

I feel, something is connected with their accelerator but yet to find it out.

I hate some taxi drivers who seldom use the taxi meter. They charge you a fixed high rate, even though travel distance is short. Mostly Nigerians do this. OH WHY? WHY? WHY?

The rate of the taxi is going normally, but when it stops for the signal, the metre is working, u know. speed is adjusted in the time.

Unfortunately the taxi drivers are mostly not educated people, and they believe that, working in the traffic jam is pretty much suffering and thats why cheating can be considered as NORMAL or REQUIRED !!!!

That kind of cheating must be considered as big crime by Government !!!!!

hmm..

ok so the difference between 12 and 15 can be because when u paid 15 taxi may have stopped at some signal for some more time? or may be there is more traffic this time?

12 must be the standard. 15 means you have been fleeced. if you want you can send a compliant to Karwa and dont expect any action to be taken
