I've just arrived in Doha & am finding it very difficult to find any western tv, can any one help?

S2 was great, S3 just seems to be a repitition of S1 and 2. How much longer will S3 viewers continue to watch. Like Gypsy said, quit whilst it's doing well and will be a fond memory. Drag it out and it becomes dull, a joke and poor viewing figures. They knew when to stop Friends and Sienfeld. I think Lost will lose pace and viewers and then be pulled. Then expect some over hyped movie. Just like the X-Files.

The UK broadcasters making some quality programmes. Not Eastenders !

The only shows in the states getting decent ratings now are the silly reality TV shows. :P

I'm amazed how quickly the US Networks pull a programme if the ratings are poor. At least let the viewer see the end !

American shows need to learn to do what British shows do and quit after 3 or 4 seasons so that it doesn't get stale.

Season 2 is great and towards the end gets even better. Promise no spoilers !!!! so tempting ! But S3 just seems to be repetative, they reckon they can keep it going for years ! But I think the novelty will wear out and it should end with all the answers.

DOn't tell me Lost 3 is dull!! I'm halfway through season 2 and loving it. :(

Have you seen Jericho ? That seemed good. I have Heroes to watch tonight.

I have season 2 of BSG if you want to borrow it. Season 3 is meant to be the best yet and 4 has already been commissioned.

My fiance hates it, so I have to compromise with E !

I don't know where I would be without Limewire. Al least I can catch up with TV I miss. Given up on Lost 3, so dull. But Battlestar Gallatica is incredible, it's real Dark.

Eeeewww. Ya you have to love the Discovery channel. I haven't watched it much here because the only thing I see is Myth Busters and it's always a re-run.

I loved "The long way round" It was like reading a book but on TV ! His mate Charlie always seemed so cool ! I saw a couple of great programmes in the UK. One was the Hotel Inspector, she would go round and help failing Hotels get back on there feet. Then there was a similair thing for Restaurants, it was done by Gordon Ramsey and was a good insight into how poor some restaurants can be. One would par cook roast potatoes then deep fry them to serve ! How gross !!!

Yes! American Chopper was great. The did a show called "The Long Way Round" with Ewan MacGregor as well. He rode his motorcycle around the world, and he met up with the American Chopper guys at the end and they gave him a custom bike. That was a good show. :)

Was it American Chopper ? I like Mythbusters. Haven't seen Ink :-(

By Gypsy• 5 Apr 2007 09:38

I love Myth Busters on Discovery. I even like the motorcycle shows and they used to have a great one called Ink about Corey Hart's tattoo parlor in Vegas, really good.

I love you watch Discovery but even that now seems to be full of programmes on How things are made, still I know how a broom it put together !!

By Gypsy• 5 Apr 2007 09:28
Gypsy

ya that's the programme. I hate shows like that. might as well sit and watch Jerry Springer. :P

Is that the programme where girls compete to marry some rich guy, who turns out to be poor ?

Best one I saw was on Sky in the UK, think it was called "Something about Miriam". These guys had to compete for her attention, lots of kissing and flirting. The winner got a week alone with Miriam on a yacht cruising around the Greek Islands. Only snag was once the winner got on board with Miriam she told him she was really a he !!! It was hilarious ! All these guys looked so foolish. The winner didn't complete the cruise !

Don't worry Paul, we have Canadian and American versions of all those shows back home. If they start showing the stupid "So you want to marry a millionaire" during prime time hours I'm leaving the country.

I've been told to look at Firstnet (?) They have star world and a few other western channels. Star World has American Idol on the day after the USA. I think it cost around QR60 a month.

Do you need to wonder why we have so many programmes on redecorating your home and how to be the perfect housewife ? Google "CHAV" for your answer ! Or visit Basildon !!!!

By Gypsy• 5 Apr 2007 08:38
Gypsy

The Showtime relaunch is awful, only one comedy channel and the series are always British lifestyle shows like how to redecorate your home or be a perfect housewife.

The only good thing about it is Simpsons and Ugly Betty is on more frequently. :P

By Paul R• 5 Apr 2007 08:30
Paul R

Anyone else disappointed with the Showtime relaunch ? Seems all the programmes have gone back to Episode 1, Doctor Who has vanished in the middle of a "To be continued" and wheres Jay Leno ! All we seem to have got in return is Heroes and Jericho.

I agree with kaizer Soze. Showtime is the best for western T.V. However, I personally tend to watch MBC4 (free channel) more then anything else.
