has anybody been here?the view from here is just breathtaking,to say the least.... :-)
The mountain rises 1240 meters and offers an impressive view over the city. The Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road extends for 7.3 mi (11.7 km) up the mountain, rising 4000 ft (1219 m). With 21 corners and three lanes (two climbing and one descending), the immaculate road was called the greatest driving road in the world by Edmunds.com. The road scales the mountain and ends at a parking lot with only a hotel and a palace belonging to the country's rulers. Part of the Climax of the Bollywood film RACE was shot in the Jabel Hafeet mountain.Built by Strabag International Cologne,Germany
Jebel Hafeet Road is the challenge for cyclists who frequently come over to train. The Jebel Hafeet Mercure Challenge is a yearly road cycling competition taking place somewhere in January. National & international riders take part in climbing the 8% average ascent of the mighty mountain.

South island NZ, hire campervan drive from wellington to Milford Sounds 8 days is good enough to do this, you can stop over to the Glacier, ride in the helicopter to see the glacier and and you can do skiing as well, my boys love it and the best ever place for me, March april is the best time to go, next to Toronggo Zoo in Sydney, this time of year is the best time to go, as you can stroll along Bondi Beach.

:-) that's a quaint little hill-station in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.it's not a very crowded place like the other hill stations.i wanted to go there for my honeymoon, but it didn't work out.we went to Coorg in Karnataka,India instead.Take a look at Coorg... :-)
it's known as the 'Scotland of India' :-)
yep,u're right about my vacationing spots.we make it a point to visit at least one new place every year.

Did you say 8K for one week backpacking kind of trip where you utilize only budget facilities????
As far as I know, you can rent a very nice studio or small apartment in a good location in Cebu for 1k per month and not one week. The Air ticket is 3k. 4k can be enough for good food for one month. In my opinion. 10k is enogh for a wonderful one month trip in Cebu. 8k won't be enough for even 2 days as well. Depends what are your attractions and destinations. For example,If your attraction is night life and women, then 8k wont be enough for 5 days
...my fav is Cebu and Bohol. My fav holiday destination is Cebu ( Philippines). This city is known as the Queen City of the South and has everything to offer to make your holiday a perfect one :) Beer is cheap, food is amazing and there are plenty of beaches and islands to endure that you have a new destination every morning. Local transport in Cebu is very cheap. You can hop on to a tricycle or a Jeepney and go from one end of the town to another for less than two QR. It's an ideal place for visiting with family too. It boasts some of the best hotels in Philippines and has a very low petty crime rate. But you need to be careful of the pick pockets.
Cenu has a very vibrant night life. There are hundereds of bars and clubs and I liked the ones on Mango Avenue which offers many choices of bars. You can go around town during the evening but reserve your days for the island hopping. Bohol is one of the largest islands near cebu and you can reach there on a superferry which are available from Cebu every one hour. Bohol is home to Loboc River which is the only place in the world where world's smallest monkey Tarsier is found in a very small area. Chocolate Hill is another world famous attraction and has been considered as a potential for the Natural Wonders of the World. I voted in favour of it and also signed a petition when I was there :) It's truly breathtaking.
People of Cebu are very friendly, honest and very hard working. You will see them smiling and waving hellos to you all throughout your trip. Everybody seems occupied in their work.I even managed to get a 'dispeedeeda' on the eve of my travel back to Doha. The trip to Cebu is not a very high budget affair. One can afford this trip starting 8K QR for a one week stay. This will offcourse increase depending on the choice of airlines, class of travel, class of hotel, shopping, partying etc. 8K would be sufficient for a backpacking kind of trip where you utilize only budget facilities.

FU can you at least describe what's interesting with manila and cebu and those islands? I want to visit the Whaling place in that country on April i think or may? It was said that you can swim with the whales
svelte, come back to earth... im sure you're also good with vacation places starting with that photo :)
I've been twice. The island of Utila, about an hour's boat ride from the mainland is one of the least expensive places in the world to go diving. Really beautiful, nice reefs, wreck dives, etc. Water is warm enough (I went in March and again in September) that I didn't need a wetsuit even at 35 meters! Also the island (not much to look at itself) is very low profile so you can sit in the same place and watch both the sunrise and sunset. I highly recommend it.
Khanan, you are right.. the question was not about the best country to visit. the question was about your best holiday.. these two are not the same..I didn't say Thailand is bad.. I said, my vacation there was the worst ever in my life..
