Thai Snack (Amjad) in Al Mirqab street

Does anyone knows the story about that restaurant. When we came back from the holiday on the 9th of Jan, few days later we went there. There was a sign that the place is close for a month till 17th.

Today i have a gathering with some girlfriends in one of the house. My filipino girlfriend told me that she and the husband went there last night and the place still closed and there is no sign.

There were few Thais ladies on this morning coffee. They told me from the Thai community that the whole family who managing have pack up now. The rumour said that the owner's son involved in 'fighting' with the wrong people and now the whole family being sent home for whatever reason.

Wether the story true or not ... i will be devastated if the place never go back open. We frequent the place sometimes 3 times a week. Good food with excellent price.

Anyone, anybody hear anything???

So anyhoo, went over to Thai Snack on Friday, and the sign now says closed until the 31st. Which is too bad, a co-worker is leaving and she was hoping to get there once more to eat.

Its rubbish and thats putting it nicely! I mean from the decor down to the food! its like it hasn't been cleaned for ages. However, I expect a lot when it comes to Thai food so Im very critical. It doesn't hurt to try it if you're into seafood.

Oh my god, i cant believe that they said that the son of the owner had a fight with a Filipino costumer...

This is what happened..

Every Buddhist believer must do this religious practice once in his life, The Eldest son in a Buddhist family goes to the temple, shaves his head and dedicate him self to the holly spirit, and pray for his Mother and Father to go to heaven. The practice is similar to Muslims Hajj because its a must to do it once in your life.

Now to the main point... The restaurant was closed for a vacation and allow the workers in the restaurant to do that practice...

I dont know when people will stop making up romors and Say i dont know!!!! how hard is that?

They are really not customer friendly place. Been there several times and have always felt mistreated by the waiter as in "The customer is always right" policy is not one of their mantra. Just love the food but not service.

I was in one of the buildings near the QA main office last year... if you remember last year it was raining really really heavy and all the streets were clogged with water... My friends and I were watching from the top and having such a laugh watching the QA ladies negotiating the puddles and the mud in their high heels and tight skirts!

PM ... far east own by one of my thai girlfriend. They do good food too. But cant afford it 3 times a week lol. Their business is doing well too ... when we arrived they only have Hyundai Santa fe and now upgrading to Hummer.

argh ... you see PM ... not only me spotting that attitude of Thai Snack's prince.

Me, hubby and son really fond with the food of Thai Snack. And the place is on the way from school to the house, so it is easy to get carry out too.

And the other thing that annoy me ... the place open at 5pm in the evening. We came at like 4.55 in on of the evening. They are ready ... but the waiter just hanging around inside the gate waiting 5 o clock on the dot then open the door. Not so much in the winter ... but in the summer 5 mins in the heat make the difference.

We do see that business growing. When they started it come with the family working as a cook, the son as a waiter, and the husband looking after the cashier with 3 tables. In about 3 or 4 years the place grows quickly. They bring it thai waiters and expanding the seating area. So it is sad when their business just closing down like that.

QA girls...LOL

Do they wear signs???

Or are they in uniform???

Just wondering...

talking about uncaring attitude, you are spot on. That son of the owner ... wont bother to serve us eventhough he not doing anything. The only time he would move his leg only when 'cabin crew' looking girl coming and sit down in the table.

There are like 3 Desman as far as I know:

1- The one near Toyota Signals.

2- The one in Abu Hamour behind Al-Ahli club.

3- The one near the Immigration Department.

So which Desman were you referring to?

If front of Dasman Center you should go right straight away after signal then right again until u see small roundabout then take left and the restaurant is on the left side right in the corner.

They let the front door open and but the whole place inside was dark and nobody there to tell you whether is open or not. So dont get fool by the front light and wide open door at the front. They are still closed until they can solve the problem with Authorities.

Yes they are closed due to some fighting with philipinos customers. Some rumors said because the tv is the issue, you know sometime they dont allowed the customer to switch on the ac on summer or bad tv chanel. My personal opinion on this issue, I dont blame if somebody get angry at some point to them. We are the customer and if we say is to hot here or too cold here they should let us switch on or off the ac and also the tv if the programs is annoying.

Being bad in that part, the food is very delicious and good price. For sure I will miss them dearly. But novita, you can go to Thai Smile in front of Dasman Center. I just tried there today myself and I have to say they are much tasty then Thai Snack.

Call me for direction if you like. You got my number.
