Time to get your tickets to the red carpet...

made it to the red carpet (although it was not a carpet actually, it was an LED light pathway/a.k.a. Digital Red Carpet). It was a marvelous moment to experience how hollywood stars experienced but I noticed we were the only Filipinos plus our Ambassador who were there that night:(

Sorry but I didn't see your reply until today. Was at the Tribeca Film Festival from 4pm yesterday. Unfortunately, I've passed the ticket to a friend. Sorry abt that.

So I don't get it... did anyone from QL get to interview some celebs or what? We need PICS!!! Ben Kinglsey is the man!

the event was nice,chairs comfortable ,firework amazing and next time i will buy a red carpet from the souk so i would have no problem.and if i'll tell them where i'm gonna use it,for sure i will get a discount:))

i got a PM at 20.50 last night and i replied to the email with instructions at 21 just 10 minutes later.there is something wrong.nobody from qatarliving got a reply

and sent the email when i got it. i cannot understand why i wouldnt have gotten it.

50 tickets were give out in total... I'm checking with the DTFF team regarding the comments above as they are looking after this. As far as I know majority of the people that responded in good time did get a response and have their tickets. I'll keep you posted.

Yes...Mr Taxi Driver himself, the Raging Bull, Vito Corleone, the Deer Hunter, Al Capone.... Marhaba to Doha Mr Robert De Niro! If I get the chance to meet possibly the greatest actor of our generation I finally get to cross him off my bucket list and get to ask him the million dollar question - "Why oh why did you agree to do the movie Meet the Fockers??

Jokes aside the man's doing a lot more these days with the Tribeca movement and now finally reaching out to the Arab world. Mr De Niro gets it - movies do bridge cultures and promote better understanding than politicians ever will. If you don't agree with us we'll send the Taxi Driver over to sort you out....

first of all, cos i like travelling and seeing different countries but also because of the message that this movie gives. it sounds likes a real eye-opener that will clearly show the damage happening due to climate change and how to help.

such a novel idea to have an environmentally-friendly film in that it was carbon offset.

is in my opinion, the best actor of all time. He can play any type of role from drama (Godfather 2, Goodfellas, Raging Bull) to comedy (Meet the Parents). Being an Italian from NY, A Bronx Tale is my favorite movie and should be considered a classic. I hope to meet him, but if not I'm grateful that he helped bring this film festival here, it's awesome!!!

Always wanted to meet him after seeing the movie Men of Honour. What a powerhouse actor.

As for the movies, I'm looking forward to Amelia and Mira Nair. Should be a good experience.

I cant believe i will be in the same town as the acclaimed Danny Boyle! We all know Slumdog Millionaire was such a eye opener and an excellent movie! Danny!!

I would really looooooove to c Arabic movie stars Adel Imam and Yousra, i just love both soo much. I have been watching all their movies and series since i can ever remember. I have always wanted to meet them in person but never really got the chance to do so. I think it is really Big For Qatar to have such festivals and invite international stars to join.I have been to Abu Dhabi Middle East Film Festival, dont think it was advertised by the media as good as DTFF.

I really wish all the best for This festival and all other events coming around, as in my opinion makes Qatar a better place to be.

I would love to watch The Mummy becoz i heard that it's a thriller. It's interesting to hear about the film festival. I would love to watch Meera Nair's movies as well. She is a very good director.

One of the reasons I'm so excited about the festival is the opportunity to see something other than the heavliy censored Hollywood mainstream stuff that is the standard fare here. As a Mira Nair fan I'll be along for Amelia, but there are other, less populist films that I wouldn't otherwise have the chance to see.

Buried Secrets looks like a great idea, so I will be watching that.

And I will give Jasim a go too, since I live here and history is interesting.

London River cos it'll make me homesick, and people should know what happened that day.

And The Mummy cos it'll be a fun event.

I can`t wait to see An Education. I have heard so much about it and it has amazing cast. I hope this is the beginning of new sphere of film have space on Doha screens. More good writing, fewer explosions and talking animals.

I am also jumping up and down because Danny Boyle will be in town. He is brilliant and 28 days later is household favourite here. I have seen just about all of his films and finally saw "Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise last week". His work is always brilliant and always tinged with a wry sense of humour.

Slumdog Millionaire was a breath taking film which gave insight into joys and sorrows of life in Mumbai. So for the red carpet .... the star Freida Pinto is my choice for celebrities to meet along with the director, Danny Boyle.

The film I want like to see is ..... Team Qatar. The topical and serious Doha Debates have given Qatar a name on the global arena and so a film about a teenage debating team from Qatar travelling the world should be light-hearted and fun!!!

I would love to see Mira Nair because she is such a versatile film maker…after several yrs of Documentary films, she made some wonderful feature films, most of them award winning. Her movies are mostly related to social stigma, I am looking forward for her Amelia and Mira Nair. Her movies are very inspiring...

A story about an avaition pioneer! directed by an international award winning director mira nair! Starring 2 times academy award winner Hilary Swank and the solid reason that it was chosen as the opening movie for the festival..do i need more reasons to look forward to AMELIA?

This one should be a lot lot different than Mira Nair's previous movies, most of all which has a blend of East/Indianess in it.

Ive been a fan of Mira Nair and I would like to watch her movie Amelia since its promos seems diff from her previous films.

I would sure love to be up close with Hillary Swank, the 2 time Oscar winner and star of opening movie at MIA,Amelia. She has turned into one of the greatest actors of our generation and I want to be there when she steps on the red carpet, wishing her good luck as a befitting tribute of respect from her fan .I am keeping my fingers crossed for this movie that could lend her a Hat trick victory at the Oscars this time.

Sir Ben Kingsley - I think he is comparable to the likes of Anthony Hopkins. He brings intensity to every character he plays and showcases his art for acting through his moving performances. He was absolute mint in House of Sand.

Usually in the movies, the good guy wins in the end. Will be interesing to see the premise of 'Serious Man', where the good guy doesn't win at all.
