HAPPINESS
Do you see the bright side of things? There is a bright side. I know it sounds like a warn-out, cheesy line, but life is full of bright sides.
No matter what is happening to you, something worse is happening to someone else. You have a lot; you just have to count your blessings.
No matter what horrors take place, they are transitory. The clouds will dissipate. The war will end. The perseverance of the human spirit will overcome all events that pass.
There is always a bright side, but it is your choice whether or not to see it. You can't change the world, but you can decide whether you will be happy in it or miserable. Make your choice.
you're partially right in saying that love is a complicated thing... but i am sure you also have experienced that once its sent to another living human / thing it has its effect :) the object of love either are impelled to return it or they run away the ones who run away are not worth sulking over the ones that stay may play an important part in your life... the only point here is not to expect the same return or have your own perspectives of how it should be returned thats when things turn sour..
enough for one comment :) dont want to ramble
... love is such a complicated thing. I was simply trying to apply simple engineering logic by bringing it down to a 2- dimensional equation.
I meant, if i constantly make someone happy, eventually i will end up loving that person, whether he or she is a child or a grown-up. On the other hand, if i repeatedly make someome miserable, i don't think there's any chance of love there, whether it's grown from within or not...
Hi Moudir
Appreciate your encouraging words its true for the daily dosage recommended it was a cut and paste I liked, and wanted to share it with the QL. I felt most of the QL members or visitors are looking for a smile a soft word a pick me up at the end of a grueling day an online touching of bases [if you allow the american term=just a hello or hi from their online aquaintances] most of internet friends bare themselves in a way they dare not do otherwise they remain anonomous and thus feel safe. I was and still am serious in promoting this feeling of yes we are there for anyone if it helps! Can you imagine if even a handful of nicks do that wont it be a site where non qatris would also like to come for a piece of their unwinding and feeling at peace :)
I dont think this is a tall order I can do it and as I mentioned earlier I was attracted to this site myself to Yours and some other nicks giving helpful advice online.
About your other comment on "Love"
about being incharge of someone else's happiness!! my own viewpoint differs no one can be or should be responsible or incharge of anyone else's feelings. Happiness comes from inside not outside. If a person does not have an open attitude or is receptive to a nice gesture no one can change it otherwise. Loving oneself is important to even have the capacity to love another. Than again Love definition differs from person to person
the topic love is extensive... and again love has different faces..
What you write is like a breath of fresh air, badly needed on this site, a long shot from discussions about the bar scenes? ladies of the night? The Turkish greasy spoons… the drinking holes in Doha and the party talk about how much one can absorb to be happy in this society where owning Land Cruisers, collecting mobile phones and watches seem to be the main reasons for living.
And your thoughts are not so cheesy either… yet :), and you don’t sound like an undercover evangelic agent…or a bible-belt type person… :)
And yes Suzanna, you can change the world, but not by yourself. You have to join the elite. You have to become an elitist. You have to run for office, or join international organizations. You have to force governments to sign international accords. And even then… you have to fight for the respect of accords…
On another topic, one of most recent definitions of “love is; being in charge of somebody else’s happiness… So… can one be happy without love… ?
Moudir
Hi Suzanna
What was just written was to make us AWARE of making a choice to either moan our grievances or make light of them..
Life can be tough it can be hard but still how one looks at things is what counts to every individual..
I am sure you have heard of the philosophy of the half glass full and the half glass empty.
No one would / should feel better with the other persons misery usually a hand is offered to pick one up and help.
You seem to be just another wonderful person on QL to write a note or a line or two to put a smile on another face I AM SURE ...SO WHY NOT POST A NICE THING DAILY that would set a good ripple around by more sharing of good things I see quite a few doing it already :)))
1) "No matter what is happening to you, something worse is happening to someone else" I always couldn't understand why others people misery make us feel (if you allow me this expresion...) somehow better. Why for example we dont say: No matter what is happening to us now ..., we know that other people live better and that means that there is a better life something that we can hope that we will expierience. I think that is a possitive thought.
2) "You can't change the world, but you can decide whether you will be happy in it or miserable." YOU CAN NOT CHANGE THE WORLD!!!!!????? WE CAN NOT CHANGE THE WORLD???????. I dont think so this is too pessimistic......
